I was somewhat nervous thinking my 9-yr-old daughter was too young for this, but she's already asking a lot of questions, so I took the plunge on an overnighter to a frilly Bed & Breakfast with her and my 11-yr-old daughter. It was AWESOME!! The material is rock solid and brings up so many issues that I probably wouldn't have thought to cover in such a way. Can't recommend this enough -
We ordered this product to use for our 10-year-old son, who will be turning 11 later this year. We both listened to the set, before my husband went on the weekend with our son. The CD's are very well thought out and the accompanying activities are great! My son came back as a young man and said that it was one of the best weekends he's ever had with his dad. The part on peer pressure is very well presented and our son now talks about "the traps" and "the herd", when talking about things that happen at school. We are so thankful for this amazing product!
This study is wonderful! It covers all the areas that teens and preteens are facing today. The biggest thing for parents to know it is really more for eleven and twelve year old. If you plan on doing with your fifteen or sixteen year old be aware you may get a lot of rolling of the eyes because it is geared for preteens!
If you can't do a getaway weekend, don't worry about it just do it as a weekly Bible study and it can be just as special:)
I highly recommend this and will use with my two younger children when they are old enough. I purchased the Passport2Purity weekend kit for my tween daughter. It was a relief to have material to go along side our Christian values to bring out discussions that sometimes just seem awkward. This is definitely worth every penny and the time spent with my daughter is a treasure. I agree with previous posts that mention not to skip the projects. They definitely enhance the points being made.
This was an excellent product. However, I feel the suggested age range is too young. My daughter (11) & I recently used this but did not finish. We both agreed we'd like to wait a year or two and then complete the book. It was far more than she was comfortable with. We used this program with our sons when each of them were 14 and that was a little too late. SO maybe around 13? It was great, though, and I look forward to going thru it again with her.
