Publisher's Description

Passport2Purity is a directed, engaging and interactive resource designed to be used by a mother and daughter or a father and son when the child is a preteen and to help parents discuss love, sex, and relationships with their preteen children. The materials may be completed over a weekend away from home, as the child may be more open to discussing the topics away from his or her normal environment. If a weekend away isn't possible, the material can be completed over a period of four or five weeks.

I have used this before, and this updated version really address today's issues. I love this product, simply because it is put together will a lot of thought, love and framed with a strong Biblical background. The demonstrations really are fundamental to getting the idea across, because it is so important that they understand the concept. Dont put it off such an important discussion, and keep talking with them throughout their teen years.

Wow! What an incredible weekend! What an incredible resource!

P2P is a resource that helps you go deeper in some of the tougher topics that parents and children need to discuss. Don't get me wrong. As a parent, I began discussing these topics long before I knew they would be an issue...but the teen years come upon us before we know it...and they are fraught with dangers and pitfalls. As parents it is our responsibility (and privilege) TO PREPARE OUR KIDS before they know they need it.

There is incredible peer pressure out there; peer pressure for our kids to step outside of what they know and are familiar with to go into the unknown. IF we don't prepare them ahead of time for how they will respond, who will?

I bought the P2P and the Project Kit on the suggestion of a dear friend of mine. She had done this with 4 of her 5 kids and thought it would be good for me to do with my 15 year old son.

It is set up for fathers/sons and mother/daughters - but don't let that stop you from mixing it up.

The directions are easy to follow and FamilyLife provides everything you need.. I ordered the package early and got familiar with the information beforehand. You DEFINITELY want to read the Parent's Guide (AHEAD OF TIME). It lays out the agenda for each day and helps you prepare and have all the supplies you will need for your weekend away. This is hands-on and interactive weekend...but there are many opportunities for you to impress upon your child how invested you are in them, including your chance to write a handwritten note to your son/daughter telling them how much you appreciate them -- truly a keepsake (and FamilyLife even guides you in how to write your letter and what to include). IF you have time, I highly suggest listening to the CDS ahead of time as well (not required - but will prove beneficial, for sure).

We got the package, packed up everything we would need for a mother/son weekend away and headed down to the beach (mid-winter). I can assure you this was impressive to him; as we have never gone away together alone.

The P2P weekend was a powerful, intense, and thrilling adventure (especially the midnight walk on the sandbar with the pounding surf in the dark!). While I have been having these discussions here and there throughout the years, this was an opportunity to get away for an intentional time (36 hours or so) to hit on key issues your child is, or will be, dealing with and do some fun interactive projects that creatively allow your child to open up and candidly discuss where their heart is. For us, it was incredible. He thoroughly engaged and was able to think about how he would handle various sticky situations before they happen (and they WILL come his way sooner or later).

As a mom, I was honored to do this with my son. I think he knew how meaningful this was because he was not tuning me out one bit! But we made it fun, too! We walked on the beach, ate at some cool restaurants, did the boardwalk...all interspersed with engaging in these incredibly pointed discussions on topics that probably are more crucial to our kids than many of us imagine or realize.

PLEASE! Don't miss this opportunity. Do tt with your child. I truly believe that this weekend will be one they always remember. In fact, mid-way through the weekend, when I told him FamilyLife was coming out with another Get Away Package for older teens, he immediately said, "We can do that one next year," which confirmed he was enjoying himself. Another time he said, "When you do this with my brother...." Both of those statements told me this was worth the investment of my time, money and effort.

The CDs give you the benefit of not being the one delivering the message...you are not the messenger :-)...and that makes it feel less of a lecture to your child (if you know what I mean). The information is presented as a "right of passage"; your child is being brought into the inner circle and given tools to attack these issues head on. FamilyLife sets the entire stage in a serious, fun, mature way that changes the dynamics of your relationship and creates an atmosphere of "we are in this together," "I am your guide," and, "I want the best for you."

As a parent, I will never regret the time, the investment or the seeds that were sown on this weekend away; they are priceless. I hope that my child assumes that, "This is what parents do with their kids at this age...and when I have kids, I will do the same thing." This truly is your opportunity to change/affect the trajectory of your child's life, and the lives of their children as well, for generations to come. Trust me when I say, "You will be glad you did this one thing...perhaps more than the many others you have done as a parent..."

I can't wait to do it with my younger son!

It seems like growing up for our children and teens is becoming more challenging. This is a much different world than the one I know I grew up in and even for my own teen daughter, it is a way different world for her as well. What worked for us thirty years ago isn't so much what is accepted today and that is where the Passport 2 Purity Getaway Kit comes into play. Inside this kit is a weekend getaway of sorts for you and your teen, to prepare for an overnight or weekend trip to discuss what challenges they are likely to face as they grow up. How the world can influence them, social media, their friends and even the challenges they struggle with with hormonal changes can be a lot for a teen to handle. So planning this is a perfect way to get a chance to talk about what really matters.

Inside the kit you will find a total of 8 CDs hosted by Dennis and Barbara Rainey who help coach you through these challenging topics like Running with the Herd, the challenges that are represented by having good and bad influences in their life, Ready for an Upgrade dealing with all the changes that are going on with your teens body and how that is changing them into adults, Destination Le Pure, is a topic covering what it means to stay pure until marriage and how God views relationships in accordance to the standards God has designed for all of us, and even Crossing the Dateline, what happens when things go a bit further than you had intended them to go, or you found yourself in a bit too deep. Each of these topics is discussed as you listen to a CD in two parts designed to run about an hour each. Along with each lesson, there is a great fun activity to drive the points home and hopefully make them a bit more memorable to learn from. Our favorite was the Running with The Herd activity. It deals with how influences can change you from who you wanted to be, into something you may or may not want to be later.

Your teen is given her own Passport Journal to capture her thoughts and open areas for discussion for both of you. Such as what qualities do you look for in friends now and perhaps what qualities you might want to consider in future friends. At the conclusion of this lesson for you and your teen, you are given an opportunity to present them with contract, to help them stay pure until marriage and options of gift ideas like a purity ring or necklace that helps remind your teen to stay pure for God. I only wish I would have had this for my first daughter, it might have saved her quite a bit of heartache and create a great discussion point for us to keep communication open. Being a corporate trainer, I know that the lessons coupled with the activities will definitely be something they remember and hopefully talk to their friends about.

I received The Passport 2 Purity by Dennis and Barbara Rainey compliments of Family Life and Propeller LLC for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review aside from receiving the Passport 2 Purity Getaway Kit. The activity my daughter loved the most was the Running with the Herd because it teaches you about the good and bad influences people can have in your life, once you make some compromises you can't go back to who you were before, so you might want to choose wisely. It was definitely a homerun activity for my daughter and one she can't wait to share with her high school youth group at church. For us, that just speaks volumes and we presented her with her choice of a purity ring to help remind her to stay pure for marriage. It is definitely worth the wait and not the message the world wants our teens to hear. For us, its well worth all 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

I recently purchased this kit and spent several weeks going through the material and reading the companion book that goes along with the study. This material takes manythe nerves out of the big talk on sex. The Raineys do a great job talking your pre-teen through these tough topics and set you up as a parent to follow through with meaningful conversation. Highly recommended!

Q: Can I order more student manuals and passports in the Passport to Purity by Dennis & Barbara Rainey?

A:

For additional children, you can order CBD stock #WW200521, the Passport2Purity Travel Journal Replacement Kit. This kit includes one travel journal for the preteen, with 25 follow-up devotions and one visa sticker used to commemorate the weekend.

Q: Do we need the newer version? I've gone through the 2004 version with 2 of my daughters, but I have several more to go. Can anyone tell me the difference between this 2012 version and the older one, and if it's worth it to buy the newer one?

A:

The third edition of Passport2Purity (P2P Version 3) features many improvements, such as new design, copy revisions, the addition of 25 student devotionals, and an accompanying project kit, which is sold separately (WW005549). Extra Travel Journals are also available for additional students (WW200521).

Q: Does this kit help you have the "sex" talk? Do we need to discuss what "sex" is before this weekend getaway? I need to have the "sex" talk with my daughter and I'm looking for something to help walk me through it..

A:

Yes, this certainly is a big help to parents in having the "sex" talk and probably one of the many reasons that it's one of their most popular items. The recommendation is ages 11 - 14. Publisher suggests that you listen to the CD content before you go through it with your pre-teen (one of the Cd's is for you, as a parent, to listen to before you begin planning your weekend).

Q: Hello
appropriate for a 16-year-old boy? Would that be ok?
Thanks........

A:

It is designed for Pre-Teens.

Q: Would you recommend for 11yr old boy would you recommend for 11 year old slightly autistic boy going into middle school next year? or should we wait until he is 12? Don't want to do it too early...

A:

The blessing of this program is its flexibility. You can preview the program and decide which portions are appropriate for your child. You can always do successive sessions, incorporating more of the program content, in following years.
