Full of passion, romance, rivalry, and betrayal, A Passion Most Pure will captivate readers from the first page. Book 1 of the Daughters of Boston series.
As the title implies, a major theme of the book is how to handle sexual desires in a godly way. While I think Lessman could have toned down the frequency of this subject and still covered it effectively, I also feel that her conclusions were accurate. She tried to drive home the idea that we should give all our desires to God and strive for purity, both physical and emotional, and that substituting cheap, physical love for a deep, genuine, God-centered love will never satisfy, and is harmful.
The characters in the story are pretty realistic. I could easily visualize Charity jealously attacking Faith, both verbally and by flirting with Faiths beau. I totally empathized when Faith tried so hard to bite her tongue and failed. Also, I loved Mrs. Gerson, the blind, elderly neighbor, who is a spiritual mentor for Faith. She gives such a great example of how Christians should live, regardless of circumstances. Finally, Maisie, Faiths coworker, does a good job of bringing humor to the story.
Overall, I would say that A Passion Most Pure is a good book. It kept my interest the whole time, and I enjoyed reading about a heroine that was so focused on prayer and pleasing God. Im looking forward to book two. Melissa Hellen, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
CurledUpWithaBookThe MaritimesAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Passion Most PureFebruary 20, 2015CurledUpWithaBookThe MaritimesAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Before reading this book I read some of the reviews so I approached it with caution but I did not feel that it stepped over the line of being inappropriate as Christian reading material. I think there is much to be learned from this book. This was a wonderful Christian family with a solid foundation but as all families in real life they faced struggles and made some poor choices. The book held my interest from beginning to end. The indecisiveness of several of the characters was a bit excessive but nevertheless made a good story. There was only one incident that I thought was a bit over the top and I wouldn't have included it but I don't want to spoil the story! Enjoy!
Carol from Oklahoma5 Stars Out Of 5A Passion Most PureFebruary 11, 2015Carol from OklahomaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After discovering these great books by Julie Lessman, I became a great fan of hers. I especially like the passionate and tasteful way she writes about romance in her books, but I am drawn to them even more because of the passionate way she loves God which is evident in each of her books. In this first book of the series the character, Faith, is a strong woman of God and it shows in the decisions she makes in regard to romance. It is a beautiful story of love and forgiveness. I recommend reading these books in order for a better flow of the story line.
Josy5 Stars Out Of 5Wow!January 28, 2015JosyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I read a lot of book and this is the first by Julie Lessman. All I can say is that it is absolutely PERFECT!! There is absolutely no dull moments. I simply could not put the book down. I've never read a book that made me happy, furious and made me cry all in one! I can't wait to read other books from this author.

RomanceReader5 Stars Out Of 5A Wonderful Read!November 10, 2014RomanceReaderOnce I started this book, I could not put it down. I absolutely love the O'Connor family and recommend this book as well as all the others by Julie Lessman. This book is written with such feeling; passion for God and family and friends. Prepare to sit back and enjoy the read. I sure did!
I downloaded this book as a freebie (Thanks, Julie!), even though I have the three books in this trilogy. It is easier for my arthritic hands to hold an e-reader as these books are lengthy and heavy for me to hold.
It is still available as a free download.
I noticed some negative reviews. Don't pay any attention to them. Julie addresses issues that face real people and shows how solutions to problems and struggles within self and between family members and friends are found at the throne of God.
