This book is really good. It will touch you and make you want to read God's word a lot greater. The only drawback to the story is that Nellie doesn't get saved. I hope she will in the next book though, but this one is worth the read!
I LOVED IT. I respect any writer who can write romance without much physical contact. It was simple yet sweet (unlike some of Mrs. Lewis other books.) I loved the history on how the New Order Amish got started and I can't wait to see what happens! I also have to say I enjoyed the ending. It gave a peace that everything would work out yet you still aren't sure what is going to happen. It didn't make me want to throw my book across the room like some books do. Thank you for giving so much of your time to write good books.
I'm not one to give a good review just because it's a popular writer, not even for Beverly Lewis. What a disappointment! I usually enjoy Mrs. Lewis' books, however, "The Parting" truly lacked the profound character development of Nellie and Caleb, as well as, the other characters. With the exception of the family's salvation and the church's debate to modernize; this book was quite slow, dry and predictable. Where is the storyline going? Not having much eagerness or desire to read the next book. However, because Mrs. Lewis is one of my favorite writers I will endure the next book in the series. Hopefully, the writer will dig deeper into the characters personalities making them more strong and distinct to the reader, along with a more vivid storyline. We a can only wait and see.
