Publisher's Description

"Rarely do I ever find myself agreeing with everything I read in a book. But Parenting the Wholehearted Child is the book I wish I'd written. Jeannie has given parents a profound gift within its pages."

—Kathie Lee Gifford, actress, singer, playwright, songwriter, and co-host of the Today Show's Fourth Hour

Your kids aren’t perfect. And you don’t have to be either.

Are you exhausted from the pressure to be a perfect parent raising perfect children in this imperfect world? Do you ever wonder, “How did these precious children get stuck with a parent like me?” If so, let these grace-drenched pages saturate your heart with God’s unfailing love while also equipping you to be a vessel of God's unconditional love to your children.

With authenticity, conviction, and a lively sense of humor, Jeannie guides you on a transformative journey into raising wholehearted—not perfect—children, who live from the freedom found in being wholeheartedly loved (and liked!) by God.

Parenting the Wholehearted Child equips you with biblical wisdom and practical ideas to teach your children that they are fully accepted by God, not because of anything they do or don’t do but because of everything Jesus has already done for them.

Woven throughout the book is the good news that it is God’s extravagant grace—not your perfect performance—that transforms the hearts of children.

This is an easy to read book about us parents not being perfect, needing that rest as parents (even if it is pulling away from our children) and trying daily to lead them to Christ. I felt it tugging at my heart as I read it, but I think mainly b/c the author and I share a first name and she uses her name a lot in the story, which was really what I needed. She gives a few options on how we can pray with our children, which I loved. The book is broken down into 4 areas: Imperfect Parents, perfect grace/ experiencing a vibrant friendship with Jesus (praying, bible, reading, etc)/ Growing in Christ like Character/ Leading with Unconditional love. I think this is more of a book that you take a chapter or 2 a day and ponder, vs trying to read it front to back in a few days. There is a lot of helpful advice that I am highlighting and flagging. Our main goal should always be constantly sharing God's love with our child. We main fail some days, but pick yourself up and try again.( Deut. 6:6-9) Thank you to booklook blogger program for this copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book lets you see what parenting is like from a humorous point of view. I see many of my friends having kids and I feel like I would want one too, but first I want to read up on parenting first.
