Reviewed by Jamie (Great Falls, MT), April 08, 2009 This book is a great starting point for parents wanting to biblically train up their children. It goes beyond behavior modification to looking into what is actually in the heart. I feel that there could have been more scriptures for giving the child reproof and encouragement. I sometimes feel a little lost when I'm trying to explain to my children why their heart is not in the right spot. Overall the book pointed me in the right direction and I would recommend it to others. 5 out of 5 stars

What was your motivation behind this project? Behavior modification says things ike, "You can watch a video if you clean your room." This "I'll give you what you want if you do
what I say" approach breeds selfishness in kids. There's a whole different way to parent. We're committed to showing you how.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? We started with a biblical study of the word "heart" in scripture. From the 750 verses that use the word "heart" we identified 9 functions of the heart and then applied that to parenting. Our
goal is to help parents move from a simple behavior modification approach to a heart based approach. Awana purchased 5000 copies of the book for their new parent training
program. Over 50 ministry leaders have endorsed this book. you can read them all at our web site biblicalparenting.org.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: We also offer free email parenting tips. We'd love to get you signed up to receive these heart based tips a couple of times a
week. Blessings to your family. -Scott Turansky
