Although the acting wasn't so great I really like the fact that it told the truth about the spiritual realm. That there are demons wrecking havoc on earth. Most "ghost" hunters think that the "ghosts" are people who have died that are haunting places, like old hospitals, prisons and houses but they are all demons. The dead don't talk to anyone. Those who have died are either in Heaven or hell, not roaming the earth. Demons know your weaknesses and if you don't Have Christ in your life, you can get hurt by demons. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants the truth. Another thing, demons can manifest into someone you know who has died and some people actually believe it's their dead loved one. These are called familiar spirits. It says in the word of God that we are to test the spirits that they are from God.
Although I don't really like scary movies, I agreed to share this with my youth at church. It went over well and they loved it. It wasn't scary to me although there were screams and cold chills throughout the room of teens! Great movie to be a low budget film. This is what the world needs more of, movies with more Christianity and less blood, guts and four letter words!!!! Great movie to watch with older youth!
(May contain SPOILERS.) While this movie's Biblical truth of what any kind of "paranormal" activity truly is, that is about all that was good about the movie. The rest was just really disappointing and very cheesy. The acting was horrible almost the entire movie and the plot was over-the-top, especially with the older male character who's a writer. When 16 his girlfriend had an abortion because he didn't want to be a dad so young, then apparently she commits suicide because of it, as a young adult he convinced a friend of his who was just about to give his life to Jesus to come to a party from which he got very drunk and then died driving home and is now tormented in hell, his mom wanted him to hang a bird feeder for her but he cancels and she decides to do it herself and dies falling off the ladder, and his 8 year old daughter died jumping on a trampoline when he went inside the house for a second. Just a little too much to be believable...
Besides the corny acting and unrealistic plot, the actual parts of the movie showing the "hauntings" is just not realistic either. My family has experienced evil and demonic activity for a long time and personally I have experienced it as well. I don't claim to be an expert, but from my experiences and from other people I've talked to, the things in the movie are just silly. The only thing that was close to what I've known demonic activity to be like is when he was getting held down in bed and when he saw some visions. The other stuff is silly and I doubt would happen (the writing all over the mirror, the first time he plays the Ouija board it straight-out says "kill yourself," his mom on the TV talking to him, his friend in the bathroom yelling at him, and I could go on). I guess these things could just be representative of what was going on in his head, but it still seems too over-the-top. These things really make me doubt that the writers, actors, or anyone else involved in this movie has ever experienced evil spirits themselves, or has even talked to anyone who has.
Since I have experienced demonic activity first-hand, I was really hoping for this to be a good Biblical based movie about demons and spiritual warfare with useful information, but unfortunately it just wasn't. I think this movie would have been a lot better if they would have minimized the acting parts and made it as more of a documentary. They could interview people who have experienced paranormal events themselves and also have pastors and/or priests give their understanding of what the Bible says of these things. I think it would be much better that way and be more realistic and informative. Since this is a topic our culture is so fascinated with I really hope a better movie is made about this topic Biblically that you wouldn't be embarrassed to show to friends or family and that someone outside the Christian faith could take seriously.
Thia movie is NOT what you may think it is. Though there is some biblical advice on dealing with society's infatuation with the paranormal; there is no repentance from the people who are messing around with sorcery and witchcraft and there are far too many questions to be answered. I was going to show this to my youth group but it would just spark their interest with paranormal and may even lead them astray. On top of this, the acting was hardly believably and frustrating. Do not waste your money and find out the truth about paranormal from the Bible!
Fabulous Christian movie with a suspensful plot. This movie is a great teaching tool for teens. We found the included Bible-study very useful also. I would highly recommend this movie, but review first before showing to youth. I believe the 14 age and up is accurate.
