Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics

Level A

A comprehensive, activity-based program aligned to the California standards, kindergarteners will gain a strong foundation in basic math, preparing them for more advanced thinking. This textbook presents concepts in a systematic, engaging and fun way; hands-on tasks, meaningful activities, and attractive illustrations engage students' active participation in the learning process. New concepts are introduced in a spiral-method, while the Concrete> Pictorial>Abstract approach enables students to encounter math through concrete activities before progressing to pictorial and abstract representations. Ten units cover matching & sorting, numbers to 5 & 10, order, shapes, patterns, length & size, weight, capacity, and comparing sets. This teacher's guide accompanies Singapore Math's EarlyBird Kindergarten Math (Standards Edition) Textbook A. Written to help teacher's understand the course material and prepare for the day's lessons, each lesson includes objectives, California Standards, materials needed, vocabulary/phrases, reduced student pages, and lesson instructions for introducing, developing, practicing, using the textbook, reviewing, and concluding the concepts taught in the lesson. Blackline masters in the back are provided. 294 pages, spiral-bound, softcover. Teacher's Guides are best suited for classroom use. This guide is designed for the first semester of the year.

For those using the sold-separately Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics Teacher Resource Book A, this teacher's resource pack is recommended to help you successfully use all the teaching activities. Seventy cards are included that are used for some activities in the Teacher's Guide. Cards have a cute illustration on them with a reference number for the activity in the guide; no instructions are included in this set, and these cards cannot be used independently. 7.5" x 5".

This "B" textbook is designed for the second semester of the school year, and picks up where "Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics Standards Edition A" leaves off. This book contains units 11-20, and covers comparing numbers, numbers to 20, number bonds, addition, subtraction, addition & subtraction, numbers to 30, time, numbers to 100, and money through multiple lessons within each unit.

Review pages at the end of each unit help to assess student mastery of the learning objectives. Teacher instructions are included at the bottom of each worksheet to help teachers develop lessons and mathematical concepts systematically. A section of "math at home" activities are included (for units 3-10) at the back of the book, along with a visual glossary and index.

Designed to help teachers understand the course material and prepare for the day's lessons, step-by-step lesson plans are provided for the textbook, activity book, big books, readers, and supplemental/optional teacher resources (such as posters). Lesson notes include objectives, materials needed, California Standards met, new vocabulary, reduced black-and-white student pages with the correct answers overlaid, introduction (often with game), development questions, textbook directions and lessons, and a concluding exercise. Review/assessments are in the back, with the overlaid answers and the competencies assessed. Blackline masters included. 231 pages plus reproducibles. Spiral bound, softcover.
