Product DescriptionHow do the lives of contemporary Christians influence the perceptions outsiders have of our faith? Based on David Kinnaman's bestseller unChristian, this combination book and DVD draws on interviews with seekers and believers to explore how a new generation views Christian attitudes toward postmodernism, the Bible, homosexuality, judgmentalism, abortion, and more. Their thoughts may surprise you! 208 pages, hardcover from Baker.

This question led Jim Henderson, Todd Hunter, and Craig Spinks to host a national interview tour with young non-Christians and Christians in Kansas City, Phoenix, Denver, and Seattle. They wanted to hear why Christians get such a bad rap and what we can do to improve. The Outsider Interviews is a DVB, a book you can watch. This DVD/book combination features films of the interviews, humorous and moving outtakes, and engaging chapters on a broad range of relevant topics including postmodernism, the Bible, homosexuality, judgmentalism, abortion, and evangelism. Inspired by David Kinnaman's bestselling book unChristian, The Outsider Interviews provides close encounters with what a new generation really thinks of Christianity and helps readers learn to live faithfully in a fast-changing world.
Author BioTodd Hunter, bishop for The Anglican Mission in the Americas, is the founding pastor of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Costa Mesa, California. Author of Christianity Beyond Belief and Giving Church a Second Chance, Todd is also the founding director of Churches for the Sake of Others, the West Coast church planting initiative for The Anglican Mission in the Americas. Todd also founded Three is Enough, a small group movement that makes spiritual formation doable. Todd and his wife Debbie live in Eagle, Idaho, with their two children, Jonathan and Carol. Craig Spinks is the owner of Quadrid Productions, a production company that specializes in capturing real-life stories that challenge, inform and motivate. He has done work for Billy Graham Mission, Focus on the Family, Henry Cloud, Association of Vineyard Churches, and Vineyard Music. Craig also runs a website called Recycle Your Faith (recycleyourfaith.com) where each week a compelling spiritual topic is introduced through a short video and a vibrant online conversation ensues between people of different viewpoints. Craig and his wife Sara live in Denver, Colorado. Publisher's WeeklyInspired by, and supported with, a foreword by David Kinnaman, author of the bestselling unChristian, this tandem book/DVD puts faces on Kinnamans findings of Christianitys image problem. In four cities, the authors interviewed Christians, but also agnostics, atheists, Muslims, gays, and other groups Christians are believed to reject. At the heart of the problem, theyve discovered, is a Christian swagger that repels would-be Christians. They advocate the persuasive power of listening and truly liking people, choosing to use the word like rather than the over-used love. In their words: Jesus is the God who likes people. Each chapter includes tie-ins to the DVD interviews and a readers guide for discussion. The books narrative that recreates the road trip the authors took to do their interviews seems indulgent and boring. But the combined impact of the book and DVD is stunning: the authors have heard and noted important ways Christians can improve their outreach by being more like Jesus, who meets people where they are.
