In this autobiography, revised and updated for today's readers by Dennis Hillman, Newton relates the events that led him from unimaginable sin and spiritual bondage to a life of ministry and renewal--transformed by God's amazing and inexhaustible grace.
Discover the timeless story of John Newton's conversion and the true meaning of the familiar words, "Amazing grace How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see."

When we realized this edition had been adapted with "more contemporary vocabulary and grammar" to make it more comfortable for the modern reader, we had reservations about this purchase. But the book reads smoothly and feels authentic, even to admirers of Rev. Newton's 18th century style. His honesty about his own sinful heart makes its transformation and his later fruitfulness all the more astounding. You will give glory to God as you read of His many mercies and deliverances to John Newton. *A great book to read aloud; Hillman's revisions are well done.

Ricki Zaracki4 Stars Out Of 5March 22, 2008Ricki ZarackiIf you have anyone in your life that you think will never accept Christ as their Savior, read this book. It reminds us that no one is too far out of reach for God. Very encouraging and uplifting both.
