What can you do when your well-laid plans fall apart and life takes an unexpected turn?
Brenda Warner is best known as the outspoken wife of NFL superstar and Dancing with the Stars alum Kurt Warner. But years earlier, she found herself living through any womans nightmare: a healthy baby tragically injured in the bathtub; a sudden end to a career she loved; betrayal and divorce; poverty; public humiliation; a deadly natural disaster that destroyed her foundation and shook her to her core. One shattering phone call at a time, Brenda Warners life came to resemble little of her dream.
But each time her plans fell apart, Brenda faced a choice: to collapse in the face of tragedy or press forward and survive. She chose to keep going. In the process, shes learned that the unexpected is only one call away. Her story provides hope and encouragement for anyone facing lifes challenges and shows us that our circumstances dont tell us who we are, nor are they a measure of Gods love. God has a plan for us, even when our plans fail. Brendas life is proof that sometimes the best dreams are not the ones we dream, but the ones that come true when we least expect them.
Brenda Warner remains a soldier fi ghting for faith and life in the face of unexplainable devastation. The fortitude of this marine mom will grab your heart. If you think Kurt Warners journey is moving, do not wait to read the story of Brenda.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck, co-host of The View and special contributor for Good Morning America, ABC News
We have all had the phone ring and our lives changed. Brenda Warners moving and inspiring memoir reminds us all of the power of family, the miracles and misfortunes of life, and the foundation that faith plays in our all-too-human existences. Unflinching and fearless, she is the woman I want in my corner: safe, smart, and savvy. A heroine for us all.

"As a mother of a child with special needs, I know how crucial yet challenging it can be to be a relentless and unyielding advocate for him. You are their best hope for a fair chance at life. I have long been inspired by the strength, conviction and grace this mother of seven has to take on whatever challenge life presented her. " - Holly Robinson Peete, actress, co-host of The Talk
"Some of the unexpected calls in Brenda's life include a call that her horse had died, her child had stopped breathing, and that both parents died in a tornado. If I were her I would stop answering the phone. But Brenda shows us how with faith we can face the unexpected and trust God to restore the things that the world has taken away. Honored to read her story and blessed to call her friend!" - Sandi Patty, Grammy Award-winning Contemporary Christian music singer
"Brenda's honest and relatable story of humble beginnings and unwavering faith is one that will inspire and awaken the soul of any woman." - Deanna Favre, author, activist, founder of Deanna Favre Hope Foundation
"One Call Away is a must read! Brenda's unexpected, multi-layered, inspirational story is told straight from her heart - from tragedy to triumph and everything in between! This is the gift I will be giving to all of my friends this year to inspire them to have unshakeable faith!" Chrissy Donnelly, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, Chicken Soup for the Couple's Soul
"Brenda Warner is a woman of strength, beauty, character, and love. All of that clearly shines through in her memoir "One Call Away." On the outside, she may look like just another gorgeous NFL player's wife but her story reveals the real woman of God that she is. That's the woman that I know and love. Her story will no doubt inspire, encourage, enlighten, and transform all who read it." - Debbye Turner Bell, staff correspondent, CBS News

I enjoyed reading how he fought through not being the starting qb and I especially enjoyed the Bible verses at the beginning of each chapter.he points the reader to God's word for truth and healing. Knowing that our creative God uses all different places of beauty for us to see our Creator, she provides the reader with additional study through suggested music listening, art, meaningful quotes...
Still, this book is filled with beautiful poetry, and her life story will definitely inspire many. It would help explain a lot of what is going on early in this story because it doesn't make sense to me. I'm sure it is a good read with the foundation of the first book. I've tried and tried to read and decided to give up. I don't generally have this problem with a book and I feel kinda bad about it, but that's how it is for me.I've tried and tried to read and decided to give up. "When people approach me, they often start the conversation in the same way. ‘Are You Kurt Warner's wife?' These days, in answer, I hold out my hand and say, ‘My name is Brenda.'"
In this gritty account of the wife of the former NFL quarterback who led three teams to the Super Bowl, Brenda Warner captures that same spirit in writing. She extends a hand, and flashing a confident, authentic smile, invites us into the heart of who she is as a human being first, a celebrity second.
Prophetically, we learn that she was a charmer and a cheerleader, qualities that characterize her life today. But what could appear as a Cinderella syndrome is, in reality, a journey marked by tragedy and trauma. The God to whom she was introduced in the sixth grade, was the One who held her firmly throughout the ensuing years, and to Whom she would turn again and again. She is unabashedly candid about her fears and failures and just as quick to attribute her triumphs to his faithfulness.
The story of Brenda and Kurt's romance is delightful, though a bit stormy. If you enjoy a little drama with a happy ending, this is for you.
Today the Warners operate their own foundation "_dedicated to impacting live by promoting Christian values, sharing experiences and providing opportunities to encourage everyone that all things are possible when people seek to put ‘first things first'." With many facets to the organization, one of her favorite projects is furnishing empty houses which have been provided to individuals by partner organizations. Brenda remembers a day when she was in need of the same.
Contemporary autobiographies are not the type of book I am typically drawn to, and it did seem to lag a bit near the end. Nonetheless it was a pleasant read, [mostly] fast-paced and earthy with a 16-page section of full-color photos. My teenaged granddaughter read it, as did my 50-plus husband and both were captivated. I suspect you will be too.

She relates her actions to her faith. It is refreshing to be a part of her vulnerability as she weaves her life experiences and her efforts to be the best she can be with her desire to please God.
This was a great read, moved along quickly, and was definitely hard to put down.
I was sometimes irritated at her glossing over of her lack of remorse for some of those things in her life that were regrettable. This came across to me as 'no big deal'. But it also reminds me that I need to be more aggressive in this area also. I definitely was turned off several times by her casualness toward her obedience to God. But, then again, I must take this to heart in my own life.
Good read, moved along quickly 5/5 stars.
Christian truths and application, 2/5 stars.

It tells of her struggles in life but getting through each one by the love and blessings of God.
I was getting a little frustrated at the beginning with her story going back and forward years, as I prefer a story to flow from beginning to end but it would connect and make sense.
I am inspired by this story and would recommend reading this to people who need a boost in their own faith in God.
I felt like I could relate in some of her circumstances and she has encouraged me to continue walking in my faith because God can do anything.
