Evangelical in its perspective, this book is a good place if you want to know what is canonical methodology in Old Testament theology. It makes connections with other parts of the Old Testament and with the New Testament (In "Canonical Synthesis"). So, in my opinion, it is a sound old testament biblical theology as well. A good New Testament partner in similar approach is "Theology of the New Testament: A Canonical and Synthetic Approach" by Frank Thielman.

Rather than writing a theology of the OT, as entitled, House writes a commentary on the whole OT, one segment-of-a-book at a time, unified by House's interpretative lens of montheism. It is a necessarily shallow commentary, at that, given the immense ground he has to cover. It is unclear how "Christian" this OT theology is; Christ is usually mentioned only at blatantly messianic points like Isaiah 53. Nevertheless, the book may actually serve well as an intermediate-level introduction to the content (not background) of the OT. Also, its first chapter is an excellent, concise summary of the history of OT criticism and theology.
