Lenair1 Stars Out Of 5Oceans ApartApril 24, 2015LenairQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0What a HUGE disappointment. The author spent so much time trying to make the husband (and mistress) sympathetic, she forgot to make him repentant! I spent the whole book waiting for him to see the devastating impact of his sin, but I waited in vain. Especially as the author seemed to be working just as hard to portray a reality in which there were none. She couldn't seem to make up her mind about which petty excuse would get the reader to accept this loser. Was it "I thought it was my wife" excuse? Or the "thrown together by circumstances but I wasn't really attracted to her" excuse? The "he really loved her (but apparently only for one night) excuse that both he and the wife tell the kids? or the one I found to be the most disturbing....the subtle but eerie unspoken implication tht God somehow WANTED and willed this to happen...? That one was just creepy!!! It would have been better to leave him unlikeable but RESTORED. the way she does in her other series, REDEMPTION
In the end, everyone paid the consequences for the husband's sin but him; and everyone repented and made peace with God but him. This is not the way marriages are restored. in real life, the consequences of infidelity are devastating...and not patched up in two weeks by a pouting adulterer and a guilty wife.

Nancy BellPa.Age: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5One of Kingbury's bestJanuary 24, 2014Nancy BellPa.Age: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Up to Karen Kingsbury's standards. One of her best. Keeps you guessing about the outcome. Written with passion and emotion. I found myself crying at times and angry with Connor's wife at other times over her treatment of Connor's son. Well worth reading.
writingrhonda5 Stars Out Of 5July 3, 2012writingrhondaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a story with four main sets of characters: a man, a wife, another woman, and some children. The man is a husband and father, who lives oceans apart from the truth; and therefore, he lives oceans apart from his loved ones. It's also a story of a betrayed wife who experientially learns that "love doesn't begin until you forgive." It's also a story of children who get reconciled to their father.
