Product Description

Sometimes kids can have a hard time discussing and describing their feelings and emotions, but this book is an excellent way for your kids to begin to talk about their own feelings. Not Fair, Won't Share goes through a series of situations in which sharing isn't always done. These situations children can relate to and will help to bridge the gap in discussing how they would react in a given situation. Included in the back is a series of pictures that invite kids to use their own words to describe the story.

Not Fair, Won’t Share

Midwest Book Review: Children’s Bookwatch: September 2011

"Not Fair, Won’t Share" is a picture book from a series titled Our Emotions and Behavior which helps young children understand their feelings and emotions. Written especially for children between the ages of 4 and 8, "Not Fair Won’t Share" presents a typical classroom dilemma when Nora won’t take turns with other children in the school’s Space Station. Everyone including the teacher, Miss Clover, gets mad! Then they all take a deep breath, spend some time in other quiet pursuits safely, calm down, say "I’m sorry!" and learn to try having fun while sharing fairly. Pictures at the book’s end allow children to tell stories about the process of learning to share. Additional notes to adults about how to use the book with children provide other learning games and discussion ideas. The spunky, colorful illustrations make the story’s impact vivid and positive for children. Additional recommended titles in this series by the same authors includes "But Why Can’t I?", "I’m Not Happy", and "Who Feels Scared?".

"Titles in the series capture the big emotions that all kids feel. The stories are perfect for young readers."—Imagination Soup

"The books would be helpful for teaching children [the concepts of rules, sharing, fears, and sadness] as well as beginning a dialogue with children about them. Teachers and school counselors will want to consider adding these to their library as they will undoubtedly be a good resource in classrooms."—Chris Singer,

"The Our Emotions and Behavior series offer[s] young children and their caregivers help with hard-to-manage feelings and inappropriate actions . . . The simple texts are direct, and the endings are consistently upbeat . . . These purposeful books will be useful in many libraries."—Booklist

"These are excellent titles for children who need help expressing their feelings and they will be a bonus in any guidance counselor’s arsenal." — School Library Journal
