McmillinQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have loved all of the books in this series - love the short stories that may or may not be connected and the historical fiction genre mixed with romance and faith. Quick reads without too much drama :) I pass these asll on to my neighbor who then passes them on. We both love them
weatherlover1U.P MiAge: 35-44Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Wonderful Read!September 26, 2013weatherlover1U.P MiAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book contains three stories. The overall plot has to do with the grandfather of the three brothers. He wants them to all marry ladies who are the daughters of three businessmen he wants to be in business with. Of course none of the three grandsons want any part of his plan and each story is one of the grandsons trying to get out of the marriage yet they all find themselves falling for the women he chose for them.
I really liked this book. Even though it is three different stories they flow so well together I almost forgot it was not just one book. All three of the stories had strong characters and good plots.
What I liked: This book was quite enjoyable. I liked how all three stories though separate tied together and made it feel more like one book then three shorter stories. I liked all the characters and thought that all three of the stories were quite good. The plots of all three stories were well written. They did not feel like short stories.
What I did not like: This was a good book and there was not much I did not like. The overall idea of the grandfather forcing his grandsons to marry who he choose or they would be disowned seemed a little far fetched but it was still an enjoyable story.
Overall this was a great book and I highly recommend it. I live on Lake Superior so I really enjoyed the setting of Duluth Minnesota and also the lighthouse and time on the ship made it a well rounded book if you're interested in the great lakes. Grab this fun historical fiction you will not be disappointed!
Carolyn JohnsonGolden Valley, MNAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5AN EXCELLENT BOOK!August 29, 2013Carolyn JohnsonGolden Valley, MNAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is one of the finest books of fiction I have ever encountered! The writing is top-notch--on a par with that of Kim Vogel Sawyer. It helps that the three novellas in this book are related--that they involve one family. Each story is certainly exceptional in its own right. This author is extremely creative. I'd read anything by her in a heartbeat!

I feel like talking about each story separately even though the above sums it up for all.
Jonathan and Melissa worried me most with certain turns of events but the sweetness of their love , the realization that nothing mattered in life more then to be with each other despite the problems and despite the certain business tycoon. Men did that old goat know how play his cards?! Abraham is my hero, I wish I could play my son as easily... He met his math though at the end she is no cookie either. .. Upss Im giving away the plot.. Its just that it was so fun I laughed with tears at the irony of it all.
Annie and Nick are adorable. There was no way to call their relationship anything but masquerade it was. And funny thing how she wanted to reject him because he left her for her.. Twisty I know. Really great lesson though about leaving your shaky past behind and cling to God who is our Strong Tower.
Real tangle though was Josie and Eli and the other couple.. It was only fitting to add the third pair in this third book.. I laughed with characters and more at them realizing how silly I was before my wedding. Truly there is a saying in Russia about women - if she is blond she wants to be brunet and vice-versa, if she got straight hair she wants it curly and vice-versa, if she is tall she wishes to be short, and if she is short well nothing will better the being tall... Somehow all these stories portray exactly that. The word FINE in woman's vocabulary is anything but fine.
I cant say whose story I liked most because each was fun, touching, worrisome, and of-course teaching. Teaching us women to stand up for ourselves to be the persons God had created us to be. The courage and ambition show by these women didn't just win their men's love it won respect from everyone for their radical ideas.
Enjoy each book, I know Im buying the hard copy for my youth bookshelf.
