But it's hard to do when there are constant reminders, one of them being his former schoolmate, now teacher, Meri Parker -- Miss Port Delamar Pearl, Mayor's daughter, Belle of the town -- Meri Parker.
After enduring the stigma and isolation associated with the internment camp, the awkwardness of going back to school should've been a cake walk. But Jakob didn't expect to find himself inexplicably drawn to Meri. Or to discover that the pain and loneliness of her life surpassed his own. She needed to be rescued from the wretched people seeking to control her life. And more than anything, he needed to be the one to save her.

Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a Christian, wife and stay-at-homeschooling mom, who lives on a ranch. I write 20th century historical/inspirational stories. When I'm not writing, I'm playing with the family, petting my dog, hiking or making another piece of jewelry.
What was your motivation behind this project? This book and its sequel began with a dream. I had not considered being a writer before that. The dream was so vivid and the story so powerful that after contemplating for six months, I felt compelled to write it. That was eight years ago, and the story has gone through many rewrites, and branched into two books. Details have been expanded through research and character development, but the heart of the story remains the same as that dream. I thank God for giving it to me.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that readers will come away with a since of just how broad God's Grace is, and that He never abandons us, even when we mess up. The way back may not be easy, but He always provides.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I felt a deep connection with God through writing this and the sequel. Even though No Other reads as a stand alone, the two really are one complete story that tells of the tapestry God weaves of the lives of His chosen. I came away with a firm conviction of my calling to write, and that all things really do work together for His Glory
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Francine Rives and Beth Moore are two authors who impacted me tremendously. God introduced me to their work at different times, but each just as I needed.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: There is nothing more beautiful than the Grace offered to us through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. I believe that Christian fiction can be a powerful ministry to teach others of this wonderful gift. Therefore, my stories aren't neat. The characters are gritty, flawed, and often do the wrong thing. To write about Grace, there must be need for it. As an author I try very hard to portray the struggles we face as Christians realistically, but do my best to give great consideration to the purity of the minds and hearts of my readers.
