It was stated in the users guide that this Bible's purpose is to provide a way to encounter Christ on every continent and in every century of Christian history. To show that we are part of a mosaic, a patchwork of people, places, times and cultures, that depicts one person: Jesus Christ. I feel this Bible met its purpose. The contributors did a great job organizing this Bible and presenting the larger community of Christians. This Bible is divided into two section. The first half of the book contains weekly meditations. They are designed to be used in connection with the church year. These weekly meditation contain quotations, poems or other writings,by people all over the world, that correspond to the scriptures that are presented. I think for someone like myself that can not physically attend mass every week, this is a good way to stay connected with Christ and to follow readings that correspond with the church seasons. This section offers suggested readings, prayers and a place to write down your own reflections, as well as beautiful artwork. The second half of the book is the New Living Translation of the Old and New Testaments. It is nice having this in the same book as the meditation section, although it is also nice having it seperated so that if you are more comfortable reading a different version of the Bible you can still follow along with the weekly meditations. I found the New Living Translation easy to read. I liked that along with this Bible, you can also go to the Holy Bible: Mosaic web site. You may need this to help you know exactly where we are in the church calendar and what week to follow in the meditations(although you may read what ever chapter you would like). Although I have not used the next feature, there is also a discussion forum on their site.
