NKJV Start! The Bible for New Believers - Hardcover Red 4 5 3 3

An excellent version of the NKJV for beginners of all ages June 20, 2012

Good beginner Bible I've seen the old KJV but I've not looked into the NKJV yet. I like how Greg added comments and information on the sidelines, but also kept it clean enough so it does not distract from the main text (which I think is really important as we need to learn God's Word and not everyone else's thoughts on the matter.) I like that he asks questions and encourages us to "think" as we go through the Bible. The introductions of the chapters are outlined nicely in red, and makes it effective for learning where and who wrote each book - something that is often overlooked. I also like that there is room for notes and such at the back, not just on the margins. Throughout the book there are boxes with the titles "Live", "Grow", "Learn", and "Know". These little boxes are there to help you and encourage you - give you something to think about. I thought they were pretty interesting. The inclusion of the "Essentials" at the back - "What every Christian needs to know about God and Jesus" was a fabulous idea. Even as a seasoned Christian, how many times people ask us those things and we don't know the answers well enough - here it's at your finger tips. This is a great way to help learn your Bible. Overall, this is a great book - well I mean it's the Bible, can you really go wrong? LOL... in general, it has a helpful information in addition to the regular text without overkill. The only downside is the pages are a bit thin, and you can see through, so if you're a highlighter or like writing it might get a bit frustrating with bleed through - so I guess it would depend on how much a person likes to "mark up" a book. It is a smaller text, so older people may not like the small text (it's about 7 or 8 font I think.) *review copy provided by Book Sneeze! December 20, 2010

NEEDS TO BE IN LARGER PRINT THIS WAS A GIFT FOR NEW BELIEVER WHO IS A BIT OLDER. SHE FOUND IT HARD TO READ SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE HAD TO SQUINT TO READ EVEN WITH READING GLASSES. NEED LARGER PRINT. November 10, 2010
