I really love the updated NIV. I grew up on the NIV, and I find this update to be accurate and clear. As far as the actual Bible: I LOVE the softness of the imitation leather, and the tan is lovely. I did have to buy a 2nd copy because the print in the first copy I had was so faint, I could hardly read it. Plus, some of the pages were strangely bound, and I had issues with them. It's nice to be able to see before you buy. This isn't exclusive to this Bible in particular. My only true complaint, and the only reason I didn't give it a 5, is due to the lack of maps and a concordance. My original NIV thinline had both and was just as thin. I do wish the ink was darker, and the red true. It is more of an orange/red neon, and the ink is light at times. If it were darker, it wouldn't matter so much the font size. I have actually written to Zondervan concerning this. Fantastic companion for my Bible study class and toting around. I do not prefer study Bibles due to the doctrinal slants, so this is my go-to--plain text.
i started this bible series years ago to be sure all kids in the class had the same version and the same page.over time pages changed but this helped us learn books and chapters better. the kids love getting their own bible and the girls love the daisy and the flower versions. just this year I started ordering the pink and chocolate they loved that too.
I purchased this Thinline Bible because my old one was wearing out along the inside binding. I liked the color of this Bible and how it's thin and easy to handle when on the go. The text is clear and easy to read. I like the 2011 updated version. However, my only complaint is that it doesn't have a concordance which I found useful. (my old Thinline Bible had one).
I was amazed at the look and feel of this Duo-Tone binding. The regular size text was very clear and readable for its size. So long as you're not looking for a reference bible or something with giant print, this is a great choice. Feels and looks like fine leather for very little money. Feels great in your hand right out of the box.
