This bible has so many neat little features, all very user friendly. I really liked how each book of the bible is started with a note about the author of that particular book, the dates the book was written, a bit of background to the book, the central theme and an outline of the book. There are short, devotional lessons scattered throughout each book dealing with different topics that I found interesting and got me into what God's Word says about specific topics. And my nerd heart loved the fact that at the bottom of each page there were notes to specific verses that explained all sorts of things from definitions to descriptions to references. These study helps really expanded, brought understanding and/or enriched various passages that I read. And my love of a good quote also enjoyed all the various quotes from inspirational Christian women scattered throughout. I'll definitely be using this bible when I study or want to glean more understanding.
I enjoy study Bibles that help me dig deeper into the heart of God. In The Woman's Study Bible from Thomas Nelson, each book is introduced with the author, date, background, themes, and an outline.
As you read through this Bible, you will come across detailed character portraits of the women in the Bible. In the Book of Luke, you will learn more about Elizabeth, Anna the Prophetess, Joanna, Susanna the faithful servant, and more! With each turn of the page, special relevant insights for women are nestled: raising the adolescent, the homeless and their position in society, the importance of a godly education, parenting adult children - just to name a few.
Quotes from godly, Christian women are interspersed throughout. These can be both thought-provoking and/or may help you to understand a concept just a bit better.
"Ultimate hatred and ultimate love met on those two crosspieces of wood.
Suffering and love were brought into harmony."
~ Elisabeth Elliot
In the front of this wonderful Bible are special pages: the Ketubab Marriage Contract - a Jewish marriage contract, family history, special family memories, and a place to list your own spiritual mothers.
With the inclusion of the concordance, index, maps and charts, this will be a well-loved book for years to come!
I love the cover art!
I received a complimentary copy of The Woman's Study Bible, NIV from Shelton Interactive and Thomas Nelson Publisher for my honest review.
I actually won a copy of this bible and thought it would make a nice gift. However, we were doing a daily bible study on proverbs, so I turned to the chapter we were studying for the day. I instantly related to the topical information at the top of the page, as well as the study notes. This bible truly speaks to women spiritually. The chapter overviews and backgrounds are concise and insightful. The charts help give understanding and meaning to certain topics. There are maps placed within the chapters as well, to show specific locations related to the chapter. I would recommend this bible as a gift for graduates, brides to be, empty nesters, or any women who desires a deeper relationship with Christ. You will be blessed!
