The NIV Once-A-Day Bible: Chronological Edition helps you encounter the Bible every day in a new and fresh way. It organizes the clear and accessible NIV Bible into 365 daily readings in chronological order so that you can practice the spiritual discipline of daily Bible reading within a new and different context.
Second Book to the RightMedford, MAAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good Chronological BibleSeptember 16, 2014Second Book to the RightMedford, MAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a Bible specifically broken into 15 minute daily increments, that puts the Bible into chronological order. Since they are in chronological order, you will find jumping around in this Bible. For instance, day 60 has Psalm 90: 1-17. This is the first time you are introduced to the Book of Psalms. On day 103, there are Psalms 11 and 59. This does make it more difficult to find a specific verse in the Bible, if this is what you want to do, as it doesn't follow the normal format of a Bible. You really need to search the index to find a specific verse, like Romans 12:3.
Before the daily readings start, there is a section which I highly enjoyed, and plan to chew on more, called Getting to Know God. There are some things in there that I question, like "Choosing to receive Jesus is a 'once-for-all' decision". It's not something that the reader can and should skim through.
The reflections that follow each daily reading are a little harder to understand than I expected. I feel like they were more like mini sermons that would get you thinking more about what you just read.
Overall, I'm still choosing which I should read next year, either this one or the NIV Once A Day Bible for Women.

The chronology has helped me place a time-line to my understanding of scriptural events. Love the NIV version.
Chases DogsMadawaska, MEAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5I may finally get to read the entire BibleOctober 26, 2012Chases DogsMadawaska, MEAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have tried repeatedly to read the bible cover to cover, but have failed every time. The Once-a-Day Chronological edition is making it possible for me to read just a little a day - or more if I chose, but mostly it keeps me focused because I don't have to concern myself with what occurred first. I am truly enjoying this Bible.
