wow! a truly beautiful design.somewhat better quality than the earlier 'signature series' Bibles.(I have an older NASB leather-soft that literally deteriorated before my eyes).the paper and font are nice, nothing 'high end' but nice.this colour is quite special and a bit striking at first.i wouldn't carry it to my fav. mens' study group, lol.will see how it sustains some use.the notes are ,of course, the best and the NIV is always refreshing.wondering now if Pastor John will be doing this in an NLT format someday...j/k...maranatha!
For enlightening, readability and clarity of subject the MacArthur Study Bible is unparalleled. Dr. John MacArthur uses his gift of expository teaching to the fullest extent in this masterful work, and gives the reader ever possible clarification of difficult passages and hard sayings, etc, in a manner that even the novitiate can readily grasp. This is the best possible Bible for the serious student of the Word of God. I personally prefer the NAS version, but own both it and the NIV to garner even more of John's insights.
This is a really nice Bible, however I think it is for someone more learned than I. The study points were too vague for me. It didn't explain a lot of what I needed to understand, as I am teaching children from what I read and they ask questions that I don't always have the answers to.
The fake leather is horrid, the print is small, narrow and hard to read. The 2011 NIV is a poor translation that has gender inclusive language - misrepresenting the original text in many instances. I would not advise anyone using the 2011 NIV. Find a 1984 NIV if you can, it is a better translation, clear and easily understood. I do wish John MacArthur would have used the 1984 NIV instead.
