I recently received a copy of the New International Version's Young Women of Faith Bible. As I looked through the pages I realized that this Bible would make a wonderful gift for a younger girl. Within the cute and colorful cover of this Bible are wonderful notes to help explain and apply the Scriptures to young girls. As you flip through the pages you see lots of the color pink. And wherever you see pink there will be some sort of study aid for those who are reading.
Here are some examples of the type of notes that you will find within the pages of this Bible:
* "If I Were there_" These attempt to help put you in the shoes of those involved in the Bible story. They help you to relate to and understand the situation that they are in.
* "I Believe" These are simple, short statements found on various pages. They clearly state key beliefs and truths that are found within the scriptures, such as "Jesus is alive."
* Memory Verses Throughout the scriptures, this Bible frequently points out verses that it suggests for memorization. This can be a wonderful tool for young girls!
There are also lists of facts and answers to questions before each book of the Bible, as well as weekly devotions and journaling sections throughout the pages.
Overall, I would say this this Bible for young ladies is both cute and practical. It has girly, feminine pages, but those pages hold notes that help the readers to understand and apply God's word to their own lives.
I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. However, my opinions are my own.
Zondervan provided me with a free copy of this book for reviewing purposes.
This Young Women of Faith Bible NIV, by Susie Shellenberger, is a hardback study bible with a catchy, colorful cover that isn't too babyish or grown up. The NIV translation is easy to read and understand as it It draws your young lady into God's word. The design on the cover is carried thru out the bible with the pink accents thru out . Aimed at the tween audience I feel that it is very appropriate for girls between 8 and 13. It is the bible that is "just like yours!".
This bible features 52 full page bible studies that is linked to the NIV Women of Faith Study Bible so you can study God's word TOGETHER! Some of the other great things that sets this bible apart from others are: Bookmark side notes, Journal space, "I believe statements" and "If I were there" stories.
*The bible side notes offer explanations or historical side notes to the scripture passage that you are reading. A great tool for understand some of the bible stories.
*The journal boxes leaves space for you to take notes as you read, jot down prayer reminders or noting something interesting from the passages on the page. I do wish there was a bit more space for the journal writing. The boxes do have details in them that takes away from the journal writing. These are often great points for reflection, however they limit the writing space. This is just my opinion and could very easily be corrected with a bible journal notebook to go along.
*Your "I believe statements" are statements of faith and foundation beliefs. *Your "If I were there"s give you stories that apply what was going on in real time. For example, when they were talking about no one listening in Judges 17:6 the "If I were there" highlights how maybe the girls in your class are not listening and may be using language that isn't appropriate. What do you think you should do and what does God want you to do in this situation. This provides reflection time on our thoughts and actions, putting into perspective what we may face in our world.
Each bible has a presentation page with a place for you to put your child's name, date and who the bible is from. The second page highlights your child's Christian journey with the day they became a Christian, the influential people on their Christian journey, special bible verses that helped. This could be given as a baptism, First Communion or even a milestone birthday!
Each book then opens with a page about that particular book. It lists the author, when and why it was written, what we learned about God within this book, what is special about this book, and finally what some of the stories are in the book.
This bible is laid out to encourage the reader to want to start reading and studying God's word. I think that it does a great job! I also think that linking it with the Women of Faith Study Bible and allowing you to study this with your child is a really great idea! You don't have to study it with your child, however it give you the opportunity to if you would like. It gives both of you some special time together studying God's word and walking together on your spiritual journeys.
I was provided this book free in exchange for my honest opinion. My opinion does not guarantee a positive review. No other compensation was received.
I love the cover of this Bible, refreshing for a young woman.
I love the Memory Verses that's through out this Bible really is a nice touch for young and old alike to remember the verses they want to.
I think the pages for your Journal is nice but some don't have enough space to write your thoughts down. I feel if they had the Journal pages with empty pages or more space for your own thoughts to be written down along with the thoughts of the others would have been a better touch then the way they did it.
The side notes are great, the books introduction at the beginning of each book is also very informative and helpful. I like the Believe is nice and different for more helpful thoughts.
I really love this Bible for young women Matter-in-fact I really enjoyed the Bible for myself and I loved the added information for each book of the Bible.
I love reviewing Bibles because I get new information that helps me or that I might have missed in reading my other Bibles for some reason and then I can go back into my old Bibles and check it out they maybe worded different but nice to find and read.
Like I said the only thing I didn't like was the Journal pages.
I recommend this Bible for the young women to read because it does have a lot added of helpful information.
I received this Bible free from Book Look for an honest review I was not required to give a positive review just an honest one. The Opinions I have expressed are entirely my own.
As a pastor and a Father I am always looking out for Bibles for young people. This new Girls bible from Zondervan is brightly colored and is a wonderful Bible for first readers ages 8-12. (each chapter number is PINK!) This Bible is sold in Zondervan's best selling translation; the NIV and is filled with attractive features that will help your daughter or granddaughter want to learn more about their relationship with God. (yes, this Bible will also appeal to Nieces and Cousins).
There are creative notes that place your young reader IN the story, as well as notes that help with difficult passages. There are key memory verses all through the Bible as well as doctrinal statements of faith highlighted for easy learning.
Over all the layout is eye catching with butterflies, stars, hearts, clovers and "Dear Diary" styled notebook pages - this Bible is sure to be a hit with that special little girl in your life. Makes a great gift!
Thank you to Zondervan for this preview copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.
The "Young Women of Faith Bible" is a Bible designed for girls, ages 6 and up. This is a traditional NIV translation, with tons of study tools to help young women get the most out of their Bibles. This Bible is a hard cover, with bright colors on the outside. The inside is a traditional black and white text, but features light pink boxes on nearly every page that offers some kind of additional explanation or elaboration on the text.
These pink boxes offer everything from perspective on the societal situation of the time, explanation of complicated verses, and modern day situations that reflect the same Biblical lessons as found in the text. Memory verses are occasionally highlighted with a bright pink flower, followed by the verse, which naturally draws your eye to it. There is also a pink box entitled "Journal" that also appears periodically throughout this Bible. This journal feature is a fictional journal entry from a young girl that uses an everyday situation for young girls to further expand on Biblical concepts.
Overall I thought this Bible was a great first "real" Bible for young girls. I think the age bracket of 6 years old and up is perfect. My daughter is 6 and this is her first real Bible. In the past she has always had the colorful Bible Story books that concisely tell popular Bible stories. I think this is a great companion to those type of books, as now we are able to look up those stories and use this as a more detailed story for her.
I would give this Bible a 5/5, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a first Bible for the young girl in their life.
