Alan SmiddyBenton, KYAge: 45-54Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent Study ToolJune 7, 2015Alan SmiddyBenton, KYAge: 45-54Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The NIV Chronological Study Bible is a wonderful addition to my biblical library and I'm finding it to be a very useful tool. The breakdown of the Scriptures into Epochs, the on page Timelines, Art, Religions, Beliefs...etc. capsules, plus the larger in page articles covering some of the above topics in greater detail are very helpful but separated from Scripture in such a way so as not to be intrusive. But overall the main feature is the Chronological order of the Scriptures themselves that I find most helpful in seeing the sacred texts in a new light. I'd highly recommend this version of Study Bible to everyone.
ChildofGod1 Stars Out Of 5NIV Chronological Study Bible, LeathersoftMay 30, 2015ChildofGodQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1I was very disappointed that the Bible wasn't really in chronological order. It's in book order with only a very few exceptions. Admittedly, I haven't gotten far into it but my second complaint is preventing me from reading it any further. The comments along the way are mostly very interesting but many of the comments seem to suggest that "other writings" were first and the Bible was taken from them. I'm not a Bible scholar by any means but to say that the Biblical laws are from the culture or Hammurabi are too difficult for me to accept. I was disappointed because that means God didn't give the law to Moses, the law was taken from Hammurabi or the culture?
Mark Fleet1 Stars Out Of 5The Chronological Study Bible, NIV - eBookApril 14, 2015Mark FleetQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Disturbed to see Epoch 1 in Time Capsules start at 26000 BC when Epoch 1 in contents start's at Creation 2000 BC. This is a major contradiction to me! It seems there a 2 lines of belief in this publication. I was hoping to have something that would help me with the chronological Bible so I could study the Bible knowing what times in history events took place in time. The time capsules tell me there was something prior to Creation. Or have I misunderstood this concept. I find it difficult to select stars as I presume the rest of the Bible is NIV, and is the Inspired Word of God.
Charlotte5 Stars Out Of 5NIV Chronological Study Bible, LeathersoftFebruary 2, 2015CharlotteThe Bible is beautiful, the leathersoft allows it to sit comfortably in my lap. It is more readable than some other chronological versions: it looks like a story. The comments and explanations are interesting - I might worry that a new believer may find them faith-rattling at times - but on the other hand it is important to accept the reality that scripture exists alongside other similar contemporary stories and practices, with important differences. There have been a few times when I prefer the way other versions said something, like in Micah "I hate divorce" has been muted. Not being a scholar, I accept that there are different ways to understand difficult passages in original languages. Most importantly, this layout is helping me want to read larger portions of scripture. This is incredibly important in our day of sound bites. There is something you get about the scope of God's story, when you read a whole book at a time, that does not come with a Bible study that focuses on several verses or a chapter. Context, overall purpose, continuity of scripture over time and out of various people's viewpoints...it is an astonishing book, friends! God's word is still what this world needs, what I need. Thank you for this readable version. Practically, I do wish the paper was a little more hardy, but appreciate the helps at front and back of the book. The pictures, I feel ambivalent about. Not sure I believe the quality artistically is top notch, they seem sometimes to be Sunday School art from long time ago, but it is nice to have the text broken up with color. It cements the story with a visual image. Overall, I am very pleased.

So, for teaching a class or just wanting to know what happened in conjunction with what time period it is an excellent source.
