This bible is very easy to read, the letters are big enough so that you don't have to squint. It was a little thicker than I expected but no so big that it is not easy to carry. I think we will enjoy this bible until he is responsible enough to get one that he can carry into his teen years.
I bought this bible for my 6 year old. In my searching this one came up in the 6 yr. age category but it is rather daunting to a child....it looks like a regular bilble to her. I understand that it is written so that it is more easily understood but it still is not quite for early readers. Other than that it is a great choice, for someone a little older.
I have given out close to 350 of these red bibles to the inmates in the local county jail and to those participating in an in-patient drug and alcohol treatment center. The bibles given must be soft cover and I chose red so it wouldn't look so much like a bible. Since they are written to the age level of 6 to 10, these bibles are very well received by these adults. Comments I hear from this type of recipent are, "I can understand it", "It is easy to read", " For the first time in my life the bible is making sense to me," The inmates have to ask for them. Because the bibles are red even if they are thrown away or left in the jail, they shout to whoever sees it, "hmmm what is that red thing?" These red NIrV award bibles are even showing up in the mens wards as well as a local cannery lunch room. Praise be to God. I pray that I will be able to continue buyinig these red NIrV Award bible so I may continue spreading God's word as a farmer spreads out his seeds.
