Editorial Reviews

Nipped In The Bud is a quick afternoon read that will keep the reader guessing right to the end. The characters are so easy to become connected with and one feels as if they are right there among them  helping to solve this mystery. If you are a reader of the cozy mystery genre and you are looking for one that will keep you laughing and  trying to figure out  her the killer is at the same time , then you need to grab a copy of Barbour’s  Hometown Mystery book  Nipped In The Bud by Susan Sleeman. You won’t go wrong.

Throw in a giant pickle named Briny. A best friend with two daughters. And a much hated City Manager with a wife who seems to frighten everyone you and will see that author Susan Sleeman wrote a page-turner. The gardening tips and their comical misinterpretations literally made me laugh out loud. I look forward to reading more of her work

If you''re looking for a light, cozy mystery that keeps the reader guessing until the last page is turned; Nipped in the Bud is for you. It has all the elements of a good mystery plus excellent dialogue, romance and satirical humor, without the hardened elements of blood, sex and gore. This author is a welcome addition to the cozy mystery genre!

I can’t seems to get enough of the books from the ‘Hometown Mysteries’ series. This is the second book that I’ve read in the series. The first one I’ve read was ‘Missing Mabel’ by Nancy Melh.

I absolutely love Nipped In The Bud by Susan Sleeman. It’s intriguing, ironic as well as breathtaking. I love the romance that buds in the story. It did not overshadow the mystery in the story.

If I were to rate this book, I’d give it a 4. I recommend this book to those who loves a good mystery-romance kinda books.
