Bruce5 Stars Out Of 5One of, if not the best of all English translations.June 5, 2016BruceQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I recieved the traditional Hebrew and Koine Greek classes in college to prepare me to be a preacher. So, I am not an expert, but based upon the education I have in school and since I believe this translation to have transferred both the heart, the meaning, and the soul of all of the languages of the Bible Catholic. Yes it is Roman, but Roman is the largest of all of the divisions of the Christian Church Universal. I love both the original and this new update. I love the use of the name of God tranlated here as YAHWEH. While you have the freedom to choose Yehowah,Yehewah, Yehawah, Yehowah, or numerous other vowel options, I agree personally with the TETROGRAMATON being translated as it is.

Michelle R.5 Stars Out Of 5Really Love this Bible!!!July 13, 2015Michelle R.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I got this as a replacement for a Bible I lost. I could not find "The complete Jewish Bible" anywhere. It is like my copy vanished out of my apartment. I was so forlorn. I could not find what I wanted, and found this as a substitute to what I had. I am finding that I enjoy the verbiage just as much. I enjoy comparing it to NASB, NIV, HCSB, New Century, NLT, and KJV. I like to see how each translation reads on certain verses in scripture in order to better understand them. Now that I see that "The Complete Jewish Bible" is offered, I will probably get that too. I usually get hard bound copies of the Bible and don't mess around with fancy leather bound copies. I keep
them for awhile, and give them away.
The pages are nice, and easy to turn, and fairly decent print. What I enjoy the most is that these "Jewish translations" seem more to the point, and easier to understand. The true meaning of the scripture is not lost because of "old English cultural use of language." I think sometimes the true meaning of a scripture is misinterpreted because of a misunderstanding of the use of an old common Anglo-Saxon English term, which is then "reinterpreted" into modern English usage, which then causes some people to think that there are Biblical controversies. In fact, properly interpreted and understand, the Bible actually verifies itself, and there are no controversies in scripture at all.
I found this to be especially true when really the New Jerusalem Bible also. Scripture just seems a bit clearer. I look forward to comparing this Bible with The complete Jewish Scriptures.
I love Bible's and if you are a Bible scholar, and like to read different translations, and want something fresh, and new, different, and clearer, this IS ABSOLUTELY THE BIBLE FOR YOU.
I recommend it for anyone who is serious about searching the scriptures for truth. It is a great Bible to have and to use for serious study.
Thanks for making this so available, and affordable, and such good quality, with such different choices, for everyone's budge.
DougBGender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Good, No SurprisesJanuary 2, 2014DougBGender: maleQuality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 5It should be noted that there are not a great many editions of the NJB available. That being said, there is really nothing wrong with this one.
The bonded leather looks good and is somewhat flexible. The binding feels tight, like a glued paperback. The text, while not large is clear and readable. It does have a ribbon marker, as indicated.
Be aware that this Bible does have very limited footnotes, NOT the extensive commentary for which larger hardcover editions of this translation are known.
BubbaAge: 45-54Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Very GoodApril 5, 2013BubbaAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3Very Good Bible for reference and study! I do with that is was a red letter edition though.
Q: does the leather version have all of the study notes like the hardcover version
Yes, this leather version has all the features of the hardcover version.
