I love this book. The author shows where the word came from and then gives some wonderful insight into applying it to your own Christian walk.

I have an extensive theological library with several word-study type books in it. Yet among them there is not one that I prize more highly than Richard's New International Encyclopedia of Bible words (actually, I have the older version). This book is an excellent tool for gaining exegetical insight into a biblical author's main topic. It is a very importatnt book for any serious Bible student.

Larry Richards is usually reliable, but this book is REALLY disappointing! I was studying II Chronicles 15 and 16 when it arrived, so I looked up Asherah pole ((15:16) and bier (16:14) BUT THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED! I know what "feet" are and what "hope" is, but where is the SCHOLARSHIP? I am returniing this volume...

I have the 1985 edition of this wonderful bible study tool. It does an excellent job of clarifying bible words. I consider this book and a concordance the 2 most important bible study tools for laypeople. I'm now hoping for a CD version soon.
