The last thing April Grace wants is more change in her lifebut thats exactly what she gets! Plus, April has a new mystery to solve when Myra Sue starts sneaking around and acting very suspicious!
From snooty new neighbors to starting junior high to getting a new baby brother to having her grandmother get a boyfriend, April Grace has had enough change to last until she is at least 87 years old.
But when it rains, it pours, and April Grace is in for the ride of her life when her prissy, citified neighbor Isabel becomes her gym teacher and a long-lost relative suddenly reappears and throws everything into a tizzy. On top of that, Aprils sister, Myra Sue, has been hiding something and sneaking around. April needs to find out what is going on before her silly sister gets herself into trouble again. More important, will April find the grace she needs to handle her topsy-turvy life and forgive past wrongs?
Girls will fall in love with Aprils humor and completely relate to her as she deals with family, friends, drama, and both the humor and the heartache that are part of growing up.
IreneUnited States4 Stars Out Of 5Not One of My FavoritesJanuary 11, 2014IreneUnited StatesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This was just an OK book for me. I have not read many books like this but wanted to give it a chance. I gave this book 4/5 stars. I liked the characters in the story. For having a young girl be the main focus of the story her personality really came through. The minor characters were also written well and you could feel their emotions with just the words on the pages. I did not enjoy the many arguments and what I felt like were disrespectful comments. You can write an argument or discussion without a lot of words and still get the idea of the fight across. I would recommend this book to the early high school age group.
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
Monica HAtlantaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5More Adventures with April GraceApril 22, 2013Monica HAtlantaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Though written for a young adult audience, as a 30-something I eagerly awaited the release of Chocolate Covered Baloney. The protagonist, April Grace, is smart, witty and wise for her age - I enjoy her sense of humor and ability to tell it like it is. Middle school is an exasperating time for anyone and April Grace demonstrates how it can be handled with humor, heartache and a fair amount of well-intentioned spunk.
In this third book in the series, April Grace is facing more changes. Her family has welcomed a brand-new baby, her beloved grandmother has a new boyfriend and someone unexpected shows up in a very un-subtle blast-from-the-past. On top of all that, April Grace's older sister is acting very sneaky and no one will listen to April Grace when she once again (correctly) insists that something is wrong Myra Sue.
I liked the storyline about the unexpected visitor, who turns out to be April Grace's other grandmother. The author does a good job of developing this character over the course of the story and creates a more believable plot line by not making her return to the family an instant happy ending.
One element I like about this book (and the series) is that it is not set in a time-specific period. It appears to be set sometime in the late 80s/early 90s, but it's hard to tell. I like the non-specific timing because it enables to reader to identify with the characters, rather than the time period. For example, when Myra Sue goes missing, the family can't check her Facebook page or cell phone records for clues to where she went.
I enjoyed this book as a quick, light-hearted read, and would definitely recommend it for the young adult (tween) audience it is intended for.
I received this book from BookSneeze in exchange for an honest review.
HSCottageRaleigh, NCAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Humor, Whit, and Adventure...March 27, 2013HSCottageRaleigh, NCAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5There are more changes and adventure in store for April Grace, again.
New neighbors, her wonderful Grandma has a new boyfriend, and her annoying big sister goes missing and April must use her mad skills to find her sister before she ends of in trouble.
This books is just like the first two, just a bit different in story line. You get the same down to earth family that wishes you really were a part of. April is still a smart whitty girl with with a huge sense of humor. You still get to hear that twangy accent in her voice by the phrases she uses. My favorite character in this book is the Grandma. You can really tell that April Grace and her Grandma are kindred spirits.

Jelly Fish5 Stars Out Of 5I loved reading this book!February 28, 2013Jelly FishQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When I first saw that this book was available to review, I was instantly excited. Confessions of April Grace: Chocolate Covered Baloney by K. D. McCrite is the third book in the Confessions of April Grace series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the first two books in this series, and had been looking forward to this next book for a while. I was not disappointed.
There are three books in the Confessions of April Grace series by K. D. McCrite:
In Front of God and Everybody,
Cliques, Hicks, and Ugly Sticks,
and Chocolate covered Baloney.
I loved reading this newest book just as much as the two before. All three books in this series are worth reading, no matter how old or young you are. When my younger brother heard the title, even before I got this book he asked if he could read it. Doesn't chocolate covered baloney sound good? ;) In each book the story continues on right after what has happened in the last book, so you don't miss a moment in the excitement of April Grace's life.
I enjoyed reading about April Grace and her adventures in this book. You won't want to put this book down as you read about how she solves a mystery, meets someone she never thought that she would meet, and continues on her many other adventures. You will laugh right along with April Grace as you read about her grandma's crazy driving and April Grace's many confessions about starting Jr. High School. I am sure that you will enjoy these books as much as I have!

Its a family story about how a family deals with struggles and change. The story is from a girls point of view of living with her sister, baby brother, mom and dad and a grandma. And halfway through the story she meets her other grandma and instantly doesn't like her. But learns more about her and they end up becoming friends. I liked this book because I read in a day and I could not put it down. I would definitely end up recommending this to my friends.
