What at unusual but rewarding plot. During a reenactment of a Civil War battle, one of the actual soldiers in that battle steps out of the smoke. T. R. Sheridan has been transported from the Civil War era to our present time. He is first observed by Stacy Sutton, a freelance photographer filming the reenactment.

The story follows T. R. and Stacy as he tries to adjust to being in a different time. An evil psychiatrist wants him committed, not because T. R. is dangerous, but because the doctor sees a great opportunity for studying an unusual man and advancing his career in the process. Stacy takes T. R. into her care. She thinks it might atone for the death of her journalist friend while the two of them were reporting on a war overseas.

This book is an interesting study in adapting to a totally different era and culture, mixing in romance. Paralleling T. R.'s traumatic experience is Stacy's, coming to grips with the death she has seen. Healing the past is difficult and can only be done with supernatural help.

I was not at all prepared for the suspenseful and surprising ending. While the novel is not perfect (there is at least one aspect of T. R.'s appearance at the reenactment that is not reconciled at the end), it is pretty good.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through the Book Club Network for the purpose of an independent and honest review.

Never-Ending Night by Tanya Stowe captured my attention from the first page and I had a hard time putting it down until I read the very last page. During a reenactment of a Civil War battle, photographer Stacy Sutton captures in pictures a mysterious man coming out of the smoke. No one knows who this wounded man is or where he came from. Not only that, but he says that he is T.R. Sheridan, a man who was killed during the Battle of Shiloh which was the battle being reenacted. As Stacy feels a connection with Tyler (T.R. Sheridan) she is finding out some very disturbing information. Not only does he not recall what happened on the field or how he got there, he is very disturbed by the modern world. He says he is from the past, but is time travel really possible? Not only are Stacy and Tyler trying to find answers, so are a few others that may not be so trustworthy. I really did not know which way the author was going to take this story but I had a fun time reading it. You will just have to read the book yourself to find out how this fast paced story answers the time travel question. I received this book from The Book Club Network, Inc. (TBCN) and the opinions are my own.

What an enjoyable read! Kudos to this author for a very unique story. I was drawn to this book because I love "time travel" stories, and although I wasn't sure that was the topic, I got it anyway, just in case it was. This is a super short book of 184 pages that is easily read in one or two days. Throughout the book, the author is successful in keeping the reader guessing as to the outcome. There were so many times during the chapters where I would think, "oh, that's who he is", but then, would think, "oh, maybe he isn't". There was no way anyone could figure out its outcome until the very end when the author decided to reveal its mysteries. This is a story revolving around the Civil War, the present day, and in the end, it gives you a glance into the future of the main characters. It provides romance, action, suspense and characters with which we can all relate. This is one of those books that can be labeled, a 'page turner'.

I highly recommend it. I received the book through bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review.

Can the past intertwine or cross over to the future? Time travel? Tanya Stowe has written an amazingly, unique and intriguing book full of mystery that kept me reading until I found out how this story would end. I loved it. Kept me guessing.

The setting is a reenactment of the Battle of Shiloh during the Civil War.

Stacy Sutton is a photojournalist who is there to take pictures and write a news article.

Tyler Sheridan a Union soldier has a premonition of his death and writes a poem called the Never Ending Night. When a cannonball hits he emerges out of a cloud of smoke badly wounded and is confused as he finds himself in the middle of a current day reenactment of the battle and states he is a Union soldier. Hoping to atone for her past, Stacy resolves to help Tyler solve this mystery to see if he is who he says he is or just delusional.

A compelling journey to discover the truth. Might there be a future for Stacy and Tyler?

    I recommend this book.

I received a copy of this book for my honest opinion and review.
