This book is funnier than the first. Plus also, Natalie learns the true meaning of Christmas, a valuble lesson for our children today! The author does an excellent job of writing from the perspective of a 5 1/2 year old. The thoughts and feelings are believable and age-appropriate. The word "stupidhead" is used twice, showing Natalie's frustration. We used this opportunity to discuss how everyone has to learn appropriate ways to handle disappointments. No one is perfect. But at just the right time, through Jesus, God will teach us what is important.
My daughter (age 8) enjoyed book 1, but was disappointed with this book. Natalie has a bad, selfish attitude throughout the book, which somewhat resolves at the end, but not fully enough for my daughter's satisfaction. Her biggest disapointment, however, was the repeated use of the word "stupidhead"; a word that would be a huge no-no at our house.
