I purchased the Note-taker bible so I could create scripture art in the margins as well as write out prayers pertinent to the text and put notes, I have scattered about, in one place. It has met my expectations very well. I bought it primarily for the wide margins and I like that it does not have ruled lines as I can write quite closely and get more on the page. Although I use another bible for my devotions 'The Voice' I like the NASB for its faithfulness to the original Greek and Hebrew. I am not keen on the red letter as it does not highlight well. I would recommend getting a Note-taker Bible and hope in the future to see more versions as I like a new bible version every so often.

I like to write in my Bible. Points from sermons, insights from devotionals, thoughts from small groups it all goes in the margins of my Bible. I do write small but room for all those words is hard to find in most Bibles.

I really appreciate the Note-Taker's Bible. It was made just for people like me. I'm given about an inch and a half on the outer sides and bottom of each page to write all the notes I want.

The Bible I reviewed is the New American Standard Bible. It's my favorite translation for study because it rates so high as a literal translation. The aim of the translators was to remain as faithful as possible to the original language. It is the perfect translation for dedicated note taking.

What you will not find in the Bible are many notes. Just a few translation notes appear at the bottom of the text. I was surprised to find a decent concordance at the back as well as a few other additions like a list of promises found in the Bible, and lists of Jesus' teachings, miracles, and parables. There are no maps included.

There are two aspects of the Bible I wish were different. One is the red letter. That's just a personal preference. I just like all the Bible in black letter.

The other issue is where the wide margins are located. You can see that there are no wide margins on the inside. That means that notes for both columns of text need to be recorded in the same area, the outer edge or bottom. One might want to devise a sort of short hand to indicate which column the note refers to. Interestingly, the concordance and other additions at the end of the Bible are centered on the page so there are relatively wide margins all around.

The paper in the Bible is typical of that for Bibles. I'm writing in pencil. One should always use a pen on one of the back pages to see if it bleeds through. The publisher recommends a pencil or ball-point.

This Bible is a great choice for people who like to jot down notes in the Bible.

I received a complimentary copy of this Bible from the publisher for the purpose of an independent and honest review.

To be honest, at first I hated the look. My initial impression was that it looked like the publishers did not line up the cutting correctly. What's more, this was a note-taker's Bible and there were no lines?!

Then, I began to explore the pages a bit more. My mind began to comprehend how someone could actually use this. With the margins as wide as possible on the sides and bottom, note-takers have ample space to add their thoughts or thoughts of others into the pages. Without lines, writing would not be confined to a certain predetermined size or horizontal direction.

A possible way note-takers can benefit from this format is by using different color ink for notes on specific roles (wife, mom, teacher, etc.) or themes (sin, grace, love, etc.). Or, note-takers may prefer to use a specific color ink per year of notes. Since most will not study the entire Bible in one year, it may be nice to look back in a few years and see the green colored ink of 2015 and know where you were that year in your Christian growth.

The supplemental information in the back could be used as a basis for personal study. Whether you wanted to spend some time researching a Biblical world view or the miracles of Jesus, the supplemental section could be of use.

After exploring the pages and determining how I could use the wide margins to my best advantage, I did convert from dislike to appreciation. The only part I cannot truly appreciate is the two column text. I would have preferred a one column printing. It would have made referencing particular sections or verses of the text easier. For instance, if I want to write something about the column furthest from the margin, I will either have to code the note with a verse reference header or identifying number/letter or draw a line over/around the column in between. In the end, this is really my only complaint about the printing.

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for a review.

The Note-Takers Bible is an offering from Zondervan that appears to be a reformatted version of the 2002 Thinline edition of the NASB which used the 1995 NASB version. I do not intend to comment on the text itself as that is the scholars domain.

This edition has increased the margins to allow more room to record notes. I like wide margins. The interior margin is tiny though and I dont like that so much. Maybe theyll do something with that next time around. The font is clear and comfortably readable for me. Cross references are not available in this edition, but alternate meanings for words or simple explanations of things like weights are noted within the text. The publishers also included a basic concordance.

Now for the note-taking aspects of this edition. The paper is smooth and thin. After trying a liquid li-liter and a roller ball type ink pen I cant recommend their use. A regular, cheap ball point pen or a pencil work best as they dont bleed through the paper. After my experimenting I discovered a note at the very end that said as much.

Overall I like this edition even with the nits I mentioned above. I received a hard bound copy found it to be quite useable. It is available in several other translations as well if NASB is not your favorite.

I received this book from the publisher via BookLook in exchange for a review.
