The MacArthur NASB Study Bible is by far the best study Bible! The study notes are excellent and very detailed! And the NASB translation is the most literal translation and closest to the original languages of the Bible. I highly recommend this Bible to anyone serious about studying God's Word!
There are many incorrect translations that mislead readers. When studying the Greek and Hebrew context of words that he has changed from say, KJV, the meaning of the verses are changed. If you are an experienced Bible reader, you can tell that a lot of the translations are wrong, but new readers should not purchase this Bible if they want a good translation.
Also, new verse numbers are not aligned to the left, which makes it hard to use in church, when you're trying to follow along or find a verse. Personal preference, yes, but I would warn shoppers to consider this if you're buying as a "take-along-to-church" Bible. Verse numbers are scattered all over the place in the chapter. They are in bold, but as a preference, I like mine to start a new paragraph. If you do too, you'll dislike this format.
Lastly, the help/index references in each page are extremely confusing. Compared to an Old Scofield, (which is what I hoped to replace), you're flipping pages trying to figure out what the numbers refer to. Scofield always kept the number/letter references on the same page. In this Bible, there are letters and numbers all over the place, making it hard to find which one references what. I couldn't figure out his system, so I opted to return it.
It is a beautifully bound Bible, with great introductions, maps and pictures, but lacking in good translation. Very disappointed with this Bible. I will not buy another NASB.
