8 of 9 Reviews Showing:(View All Reviews) Reviewed by Stephen Hatch (Stoughton, MA), July 27, 2010I wore out my old NAS Study Bible so I got a new one. This is my Bible of choice, the accurate literal NAS version of the Bible combined with very good study notes (I believe they were originally the NIV Study Bible notes which were then applied to the NAS version). This is the primary Bible I read from (the ESV Study Bible is my secondary) and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a very accurate (to the original languages) version of the Bible combined with helpful and sound study notes. Reviewed by Mrs Michael (Upstate NY), January 02, 2009This has become my favored Bible. I appreciate the literal translation as well as the notes. I was very pleased with this Bible as soon as I took it out of the box and flipped quickly through it. Now that I have been reading it a while I really appreciate the easy to understand, yet literal translation. The introductions to each book and the extras throughout the Bible are really interesting. It was neat to see the drawing of the temple which allowed me to "see" what the Scripture was saying in my imagination. Reviewed by Dorine Butler (Vernon, AZ), November 10, 2008I have an NIV, a KJV, an Amplified, and now the NAS bible. I like to compare the translations, but find that the NASB is fast becoming the one I look to first! His Word is alive for all generations! I like having all the notes re: original language, and the historical info. Reviewed by Brad (IL), March 17, 2008I like the Zondervan study Bibles. I have the NIV version and just purchased the NASB Study Bible and really enjoy it. I would have given it five stars, but some of the red letter printing is very light. My NIV Bible is not like this, so I don't know if they have changed their printing or if I just got a defective one. Reviewed by Steve (Nashua, NH), May 14, 2007Its hard to express how this Bible breathes life into my Bible study. An excellent translation and useful tool from the first page to the very last map in the back of the Bible. This updated New American Standard edition is the most literal translation available. This is combined with excellent notes, great cross references & chart. It also has one of the largest concordances that helps in many ways (this was carried over from the NIV Study Bible that prefigured this Study Bible). I purchased one the very first week it was on the market and have been very happy with it. Reviewed by Steve (New Hampshire), April 29, 2006An excellent study Bible alongside a great translation. If one reads the introduction and pick up on the in text notations, all these features combine to give an indispensible study tool to a better understanding of the culture and meaning of Scripture to the original writers. Knowing the original meaning is the first step of Bible study, helping us to make application to our lives today. Always a good thing! Reviewed by Jim Clarke (Dallas, TX), December 19, 2003This is the NIV Study Bible notes and illustrations merged with the NASB text. Given what it is, it is a good study Bible. However if you are really concerned with understanding the meaning of the Bible, using a good meaning-based translation in addition to a literal translation would be just as helpful (e.g. NLT, CEV, NCV, REB). Before buying, I would recommend comparing the Life Application Study Bible. Reviewed by Barry Noor (Newell, SD), December 09, 2001"Upside: A fine mixture of an extremely accurate text joined with thoughtful and useful notes and helps. Downside: Margins could be a little wider for notetakers. Summary: An excellent and practical tool for all who desire to know their Lord and His Word in a greater manner."
