I have a lot of bibles. Everything from study bibles to smaller ones without references. This is by far the best I've ever owned. It is a convenient size that fits into any bag. Make sure you get the bonded leather cover. It is very durable. The print is the best I've ever seen in any bible. Its very dark and bold. Makes reading in any light easy and shows through any marking system you might use for notes. The cross references are better than my big study bibles. It has translation notes and some word definitions mixed in. If you like to search the scriptures this will keep you going for hours. I plan on purchasing a back up one for when this one falls apart. But Its been five years of heavy usage and its still going strong.
For many, many years I have been using a small, compact NASB that I bought from CBD and it has been a daily source of strength and comfort. Then my eyesight changed and it became harder to read this small print and I became frustrated in daily Bible reading. When I looked at larger print Bibles, they felt too big and heavy. So I ordered this "personal size" "giant print" Bible and it is just perfect. The NASB version has always been my choice because of it's accuracy; and now I can read it easily again and I'm sooo grateful! Some have mentioned the quality of the imitation leather, and I agree that it could be better. Also, the Bible I received did not have a ribbon bookmark, even though it was supposed to have one -- so I sewed a strip of narrow lace to the binding and now have a unique bookmark. Being able to read God's Word easily in a size that is comfortable to carry and handle is well worth some minor inconveniences! Thank you, CBD, for making this Bible available at such an affordable price!
I read the reviews so was not as surprised as I might have been. The cover is awful. I wish I had just bought a hard back instead. The print is way too big, to where it's almost hard to read; not enough white paper showing, just large black print. I had previously purchased a nice NASB, but found it did not have center column or verse references so I sent it back and got this one. I wish I had the other one back. This price was very chesp, so that's my only consolation.
This is the most readable NASB available other than the Schuyler Quentel which is $220 and is very large. This Hand sized Bible is very good value and very readable font size. Take it from me. I have 56 year old eyes that are not what they used to be. The paper is thin but the type is so nice and bold and a readable type font that ghosting is not a problem. I would make a suggestion to Zondervan that they make just a reader version that eliminates the center column references. This would allow the type to come away from the gutter and allow even more space for increased font size and leading. Or they could just make a thinner edition. I use a study Bible for my cross references and I don't need it in a hand sized Bible that I can sit in my easy chair and actually hold. I own a Schuyler Quentel which has a 11 point font and the thickest paper there is but they don't call it the BRICK for nothing. It is large and heavy and really can only be read at a desk or table. Too big to hold comfortably. The price on it is very prohibitive for most people. Another suggestion on the Zondervan NAS Giant Print Reference Bible is something other than bonded leather. I would prefer a LeatherTouch or even better genuine leather cover. Bonded leather is way to stiff. This is a great Bible for rebinding. I am having two rebound in goatskin as I write this. So in conclusion great, readable, portable that is good value. Buy it if you like the NASB.
