This Bible is superb. The calfskin leather is soft and attractive. The pages are sturdy. Readability is no issue for this over 50 reader. The one small downside is it is not a red letter edition. If you cherish the NASB like I do and are alarmed by the lack of variety when purchasing one, you'll be pleased with this one. I've used it a few months and just ordered two more. (I want extras in case they stop carrying them.) I'm sending one of the Bible's to a book binder to have the NT removed and bound separately with similar calfskin. May God bless your reading.

While the leather, paper, and typeface are just what I wanted in a Bible that would hopefully last me a lifetime, I have returned two so far within the first 4 months of purchase. I have found the adhesive that attaches the cover to the block of pages comes apart way to quickly for a Bible at this price. The 'leather-like' inside cover curled away on both front and back within 30 days, and the internal connection between the leather and the pages came apart after only 4 months. On a very good note, the publisher has been responsive with me in sending yet another copy, but for something I want to take notes in and have for a long time, I don't know if I can trust even this third one. I may have gotten Bibles from a bad batch, but I don't buy enough Bibles to be able to afford a bad batch. I think I'll maybe try something similar I have found from another publisher if this third one has trouble.

I have this (calfskin) edition as well a the less expensive "genuine leather" edition of the updated NASB, along with several others, and have also had the original NASB in leather from back in the '70s.
The text block (pages) is the same in both the calfskin and genuine leather editions.
The leather cover of the calfskin is softer than the genuine leather cover to be sure, but there are no headbands, and the attachment (at the endpapers) is rather delicate for a Bible of this size and weight.
The calfskin cover's infolded, crimped corners aren't solidly glued down, either. Neither edition oversews the first and last signatures.
This edition of the NASB is excellent as regards paper and text, but the binding, while adequate, isn't up to old fashioned standards, in my experience. If you value a truly good quality binding, it might make more sense to get the cheaper edition and to have it rebound, or if the single column/marginal reference format isn't important to you, buy one of the Cambridge editions instead, since the print is smaller, yet still adequate.

Over the years I have cherished a collection of several study Bibles and this is certainly a prize...but at the price that I paid I thought that it would have had a reinforced spine like the In Touch Ministry Bible. I like it a lot, but it is not near as nice as the In Touch Ministry Bible.

Hands Down!!! The best construction of any Bible manufacturer. I own and have handled many many Bibles and this Bible I purchased yeras ago and is still like new. There are many Leather and "flex" covers on the market but supple Calfskin not the "genuine calfskin" that is shiny and stiff much like goatskin which is offered by some like Cambridge Bibles is much much better. This supple calfskin is like liquid! It is sooo soft and flexible and limp not like "trutone" or "duraflex" which mimics the "feel" but the function is poor because these covers do not stay down when the Bible is manipulated then closed Not so with this calfskin!! It is smyth sewn EXCELLENT. Forget glued Bibles period even if you dont use the Bible the glue wont stand time let alone use it becomes brittle and pages fall out either separate or in chuncks! This sewn Bible is awesome from beginning to end the pages are so "individual as to falling down when the pages are turned. The paper used is the best ever PERIOD you dont hear the typical crinkle which is so standard with Bible paper and it is not too thick like others being stiff they flow so free. Even the gold gilt is excellent it is smooth and not cheap or choppy does not flake off or rub. The gold stamping does not peel even when scratched with your nails like cheaper "high quality" Bibles like the Esv Calfskin. The margins just right and the FORMAT- Single column as a book for READING should be the Bible is not to be treated as a reference book with double column, just read from a single column Bible and see how much more you read more easily also this is awesome for preaching verses all aligned- verse per line in bold. the size is just right not too thick not too large and print size very good! Good maps Good concordance. Foundation is not for profit like soooo many other Bible publishers. If you like the NAS, heck if you like the Bible this is one you should have! It will literally last you your Life!

My wife gave me this Bible yesterday as a gift for our one-year wedding anniversary. I will use this Bible until the pages fall out! It is put together so well, and most important of all, it is the NASB, which is the closest English translation to the original Hebrew and Greek. It is God's never-changing Word, and it is forever settled in heaven. Jesus is on the Throne, and His word is our guide, comfort, and peace while we are passing through this place. Praise Him for His faithfulness! Hallelujah to the King of kings and Lord of lords JESUS!

Better word for word than KJV. Gorgeous leather. Outstanding binding. Very easy reading, thanks to the larger type. The margins are not quite as wide as I would like if I scribbled notes in it. The NASB In touch wins that category. Also needs blank sheets for notes if you are inclined to need that. Just to pretty and readable not to give it a 5+ rating.
