Daniel R BLos Alamos, NMAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5One of the best little NASB Bibles you'll find!March 15, 2013Daniel R BLos Alamos, NMAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This may be one of my favorite little Bibles...and fairly inexpensive.
The size is nearly ideal. While not a "pocket" Bible, it is little, though somewhat thick. It fits in the hand nicely.
It doesn't have many frills: two-column, but paragraph format. I personally love paragraph format--though it does make it a bit trickier to find a verse quickly, I find the reading "flows" more naturally. In a compact Bible, though, paragraph formatting is nearly a must, since verse format tends to waste more space. It has a full set of center-column references and a concordance (pretty short one), and very nice color maps in the back. Each book has a short introduction and outline. There is a glossy presentation page.
Now, for my favorite feature about this Bible: readability, The font is small, but it is actually one of the easiest to read Bibles I own (and I'm in my late forties). The font is very, very dark and crisp. The red letter is a rich red, not the washed out brownish red common in many red letter Bibles. Ghosting (where the print on the opposite side of the paper is partially visible) is very minimal. Indeed, this crisp, dark font and minimal ghosting make this Bible one of my favorites to read. Honestly, I would recommend this NASB Bible over any other, simply for its readability. Side-by-side with my other NASB Bibles, it is by far the clearest one to read, even compared to the larger font sized ones.
As stated above, it is thick...however, that probably has a lot to do with the combination of the thickness of the paper (resulting in minimal ghosting) and font choice (to make it thinner, a smaller font would probably have to be used.) I would not trade it for a thinner Bible if it meant more ghosting or smaller font. In fact, I HAVE thinner Bibles with larger fonts, and they are less readable because of ghosting and lighter font. (Those Bibles would probably have MORE ghosting and thus be less readable if their printing was as dark as this one.)
I have both the snap-flap and non snap-flap editions. I'm slightly partial to the snap-flap; it means the pages don't get "crunched" if you throw it into a book bag or purse. If you worry about it "getting in the way", I simply fold it back along the back of the Bible when holding it in my hand.
The bonded leather is...well, bonded. I don't really like it. It is stiff, but I'm working it to make it more flexible in mine. I think Zondervan should really consider other covers. I would even say it would merit a premium leather cover, like split calfskin or even goatskin. Even a Leathertex or other quality "fake" leather cover might be better than the bonded. That would make it nearly perfect. In fact, I would consider the cover the only less-than perfect quality of this Bible. Really, it's that good.

Christen Burns4 Stars Out Of 5August 25, 2009Christen BurnsThis bible is everything it said it would be. The only thing I didn't realize would be a problem was the paragraph format. I had been using NASB's for so long, I had forgotten how easy NASB's made it to locate a verse. Not a huge deal though. I will adjust. Very durable looking & fits in my small purse.

Rick Powell5 Stars Out Of 5April 7, 2008Rick PowellI've had my NAS Compact Reference Bible for a couple of weeks now, and I must say, I have been very pleased with it. I was looking for an NAS Bible that was small and easy to carry. This has been perfect; I take it with me almost everywhere. The print is small, but it is dark, clear and fairly easy to read. Though I haven't had it long enough to determine its durability, the craftsmanship appears excellent for a bonded leather bible in this price range. I definately recommend this Bible to anyone looking for an affordable compact NASB.
