My kids have loved having their own money boxes and the idea that they can see exactly what money is allocated to which purpose is a great idea. My 2 children (5 and 3) have found great pleasure in going to their money boxes and getting out their tithes for church and seeing their savings grow. Great skills to develop early on. would recommend it to all families.
My Giving Bank is a fantastic "piggy" bank for kids of all ages! It goes way beyond holding the money as it teaches them to think about saving, spending and tithing! My 4 1/2 year old twins have been loving the banks and have already been using them correctly. It's been neat to hear them consider and discuss which section their money should go into. I love hearing them say to themselves or us that they want to put their money into the church section because they love God!! And it was so wonderful to see them take that money to church and put it into the offering plate - their own money. They were so proud. We loved the information pamphlet that accompanies the product which presents how to use the Giving Bank to its full advantage! Because of this pamphlet, we discussed short and long term spending. They have already saved up and bought a more expensive toy that they wanted. Again, they were so proud to use their own money. I highly recommend this fantastic product to anyone who wants to teach their children to spend and save responsibly plus who wants their children to give to God and/or worthy charities!
I love the idea behind this product! We need to teach children the life-long principles of giving back to God (tithing), saving for the future, and spending a little along the way. It is a very sturdy bank and should be a lot of fun for the kids to watch their money grow. Helps them develop good habits of how to handle their money.
We bought four of these for our kids. At first, they were great. After a few months and accumulated funds, the bottom plugs started falling out. The kids had a very hard time pushing them back in themselves, but even a meager amount of change pushed the plugs out. We finally had to abandon them altogether. We were disappointed to have spent so much on banks only to have them be lemons. The bottom plugs should be a twist lock like so many quality kids banks have now.
