What a great Bible for preschoolers! There are so many things about this that I really like. First, it is great I think that it has the real text of the Bible, not just a snippet of the story. The New Living Translation is used so the stories are easy to understand I thought. Second, the illustrations are wonderful. Children will like these a lot I believe. Third, the hands-on activities are just perfect for little ones and relate appropriately to the stories. Some of the activities I liked are: "Stand in a doorway, and try to block me from getting through." from the story Balaam's Talking Donkey; "Name three people who make you feel safe." from the story Boaz Helps Ruth. Finally, I like that at the end of each story is a prayer, a couple more activities, a couple questions, and "The Jesus Connection." Every story points back to Jesus.
If you have a preschooler in your family, this is a great Bible for you to read with them. Read more about it here. (I notice there is one of these available with a blue cover as well in case you were wondering!)
I received this book as part of the Tyndale review program. Thank you.
Explore the wonders of Creation and Jesus' life with your preschooler in a new and exciting way.
The fact that there is true scripture in this "kid's" Bible is one of my favorite aspects of this book. The Word of God is important and our children should be included in that. The verses are abridged, but not revised. Not all of the Bible is portrayed, however there are many key stories from both the Old and New Testament.
My First Hands-On Bible is a wonderful first Bible for preschool aged children. My son is 3 years old and really enjoys the stories and activities. The stories are short enough that he doesn't loose interest before we are done and the activities throughout help to keep him engaged. Throughout the day and for days afterwards, he is still repeating the lessons he has learned. I really feel that the activities helped to make it stick for him. I recommend this Bible. It is a great way to introduce children to reading The Word daily and learning about God's love.
I received a free copy of My First Hands-On Bible from Tyndale Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
I am always skeptical of what might get lost or added when people try to make a Bible for a specific group, especially age specific, so when I first got my complimentary copy from my friends at Tyndale House Publishers for review I immediately opened it up to look at the text. I was thrilled to see the actual text of scripture on the pages. I noticed right away the familiar stories from scripture and some not so familiar that is sure to get your preschooler excited about the Bible.
They have added in colorful illustrations and activities. Imagine reading about creation while your child has thier eyes covered trying to understand what formless and void means. Or flashing the lights off and on while you read the words of God, "Let there be light".
I was pleasantly surprised by the design and content of this partial Bible but would recommend a hard cover or other option than soft cover. If your expecting years of use it would be worth the upgrade.
My 1st Hands-On BibleBold Blue The imitation leather cover is soft (and smells good). Pockets (the kangaroo) and Cuddles (the lamb) are embossed on the front, ready to guide your little one through the 85 (true) Bible accounts that are between the covers. Each page high quality, heavy weight paper with fun illustrations great for little hands and eyes.
One of my favorite parts about the My First Hands-On Bible is that the text is the real Biblical text! The scriptures are abridged to some extent but they are not paraphrased. It is so important for children to learn that the Bible is true, the inspired Word of God. (1 Timothy 3:16)
As you read each passage, youll notice little handprints in various places. The handprints coordinate with a little note on the side of the page. Each note is an idea for an activity that you can do with children as the story is read. Ive used this particular Bible when Im teaching preschoolers, stopping at each handprint to complete the activity, they have such a fun time being creative and using their imaginations.
At the end of each passage there are several discussion questions, activities, and prayer ideas to do with children, practically connect what was just read. The Jesus Connection helps children connect Jesus to every Biblical passage, even if He isnt specifically mentioned. For the price of $19.99 I believe the My First Hands-On Bible is a terrific investment for the little ones in your life.
Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This hands-on Bible mirrors a real Bible so now children as young as preschoolers can feel special when going to church. Gone are the simple illustrations and big bolded words. Now everyone in the family can belong in a Bible-carrying family.
My First Hands-On Bible is a fun and simple, yet meaningful way to engage preschool, prekindergarten, and kindergarten children
(ages 36) with the Bible while helping them build a solid faith foundation. Each lesson focuses on a specific Bible point through a variety of activities in order to reinforce and help young children remember the stories and lessons. Using common household items, you can help your children have a hands-on learning experience while engaging them in 85 key stories from the Bible.
My First Hands-On Bible doesnt just retell the Bible stories; it also includes actual Scripture from the easy-to-understand and easy-to-read Holy Bible, New Living Translation. In addition to the stories and activities, there are fun illustrations, prayers, and a special Jesus Connection feature.
