Horribly disappointed!
I was looking for a beginners prayer book for my pre-schooler. I was very disappointed to find condemnation on every page! It is not suitable for children beginning to learn about the Bible or to take interest in the scriptures. This is fear based, not love based. I threw it in the garbage!

I have just ordered this book due to Lisa's review. I glanced at the cover and thought it would be another fluff book for children so parents can feel like they're teaching their kid's about God. After I read her review I actually read through the sample pages and was impressed. The truth is that we are born horribly wrenched sinners and that no good can come from us without the renewing spirit of God living in and through us. If we don't teach our children what the human condition is, which is fallen then they will never know how unbelievably amazing it is that Jesus would take on flesh to have victory over sin so we could be reconciled to God. The Bible is very clear that the heart of man is wicked. We can only be saved by the grace of God through faith. John 15 tells us that we can not bear fruit apart from God. Galatians 5:18-25 Tells us what our sinful nature is and about the fruits of the Spirit. I know who I was before Christ, fruitless. I know who I as even after Christ when I stepped back into my own flesh nature and turned a deaf ear to the Spirit's prompting. I know who I am now, yes there are still days that I choose to sin and not walk by the Spirit. But I know that God is sanctifying me through my daily trials. On my own, I am still a wicked sinner. But through God's unconditional love and my faith in who Jesus was, is and will be eternally- I have been reconciled to a holy and righteous God. I did nothing to deserve this, which is to his glory and honor forever. The Spirit brings conviction which leads to repentance, not condemnation or guilt which leads to self indulgent loathing. God wants out eyes eternally fixed on him, not inward obsessed with our own esteem. I thank God that he is remolding me each day more into the image of Christ Jesus.

This is an awesome book for beginning readers and preschoolers. My daughter is 4 and loves to read it herself. She is able to remember the bible verses and prayers with the sing song patterns.

We actually read through the book first and were shocked to read that it was full of condemnation. It had awesome bible verses but the summary of the bible verse was condeming for children and condemnation is not of God. We were apalled and threw the book in the trash.
