Beautifully illustrated and scripted on glossy sturdy pages this hardback book introduces your toddler, to some of the characters from the Bible. Each story is laid out on 4 pages (2 story pages with 2 illustrated pages) and ends with telling the characters of each story "Good Night." Snuggling and cuddling in bed with your child and this book is a great way to introduce a bedtime and biblical characters.
I would recommend this book for anyone with children between 2 and 4 years old!

We used the stories as a teaching opportunity to talk about the actual Biblical events-- for example, the chapter in this book about Noah simply talks about Noah saying goodnight to the animals and his wife and laying down in bed to go to sleep, then tells the reader to thank God for a warm place to sleep like the one Noah had on the ark. We then used that to talk about who Noah was, why he was in the ark, what God was doing through Noah, etc. The "truths [the children] can learn from them" as the publisher's description mentioned aren't talked about at all anywhere in this book (a little disappointing!), so that was for my husband and I to inject into our reading time with our son.
Overall this was a simple and sweet book and was illustrated beautifully!
BrandiAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Soothing bedtime book for all ages!April 9, 2014BrandiAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The children's book, My Bedtime Story Bible by Jean E. Syswerda and illustrated by Daniel Howarth; is an illuminating and appropriate book to read to your little ones before bed. Suitable for all ages, My Bedtime Story Bible addresses each of the biblical people such as Adam and Eve, Noah, and King David, and how each of them settle down for bed each night. Each story is two pages long, and concludes with a night time prayer simple enough for a child any age.
While this is not our first children's bible, it is the first children's bible that is simplistic, yet interesting enough for all my children of various ages. I was immediately drawn to the vibrant, soothing illustrations of each story. The story of each character was short enough to keep my children's attention without allowing them to become restless, and each ending prayer was short and direct for my children to recite. The overall mood of the book was very conducive for night time reading as the stories soothe the energetic minds of my children, and create a tranquil mood for bedtime.

We have a host of children's bibles and story books, so it's always refreshing to come across a new one. I didn't closely count, but I think there are about twenty or so stories in this and like the title suggests, these are specifically bedtime stories, so they are all "turning off the lights now" safe! Meaning, these are not stories of war, brothers killing each other or even the cross. These are "tuck in" stories with beautiful pictures and heart-felt applications.
That said almost 3/4 of the book are stories from the Old Testament. You can read your child the story of crossing the red sea, Naomi and Ruth, Daniel and the Lions den and many others. These are also not one page short "nothing" stories either like some other books. Each story is between 3 and 4 pages long.
Plus, each story ends with a "tuck in" feature for you as the parent to do with your child. This is a wonderful book.
My thanks to Zondervan for this preview copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.
