Very good buy for the prince of preachers, especially the NIV version. Charles Spurgeon has always inspired me to get into Gods word more, these messages when you really meditate on them get you through the day.
Spurgeon's insights are relevant and vital to us today though written in the 1800s. If you want to draw closer to God and know Him better, this is an essential tool for your personal Bible study/quiet time.
Thank God for His grace that He continues to use sinful man to preach & teach the gospel. I do not read this devotional every day as I am led to read & study other devotionals & the Bible daily. On saying rthat I find Charles Spurgeons book wonderful. God doesn't speak to me every time I read it but look out when He does! I have discerned nothing iffy which is great considring the wicked apostacy that is out there e.g The Alpha Course, Rick Warren & Purpose Driven & others. Maybe this book is so good because it is a 'golden oldie'not soiled by modern soft peddaled so called christianity. I am not saying that there are no modern day true men of God e.g B.H Glendennen, David Wilkerson, David Pawson.
I have read many daily devotionals over the years by many writers and have definitely decided that this devotional by Spurgeon is one of the best, ever! His writings were recommended to me by a close friend; so I selected this book not knowing much about him. Every day, without exception, there is something he writes about that blesses me and helps me grow in my faith and or gets me to thinking about how my walk can bless others. He challenges me with Scripture in ways I've never thought about. Every day I look forward-with great anticipation-to what my Lord wants to say to me through Charles Spurgeon. This is a must-read devotional!
