Moondance Alexander is one of the most enduring stories regarding life and the joy of horses! This movie is wonderful in that it covers a whole lot of "life circumstances", and because it has the potential of bringing healing to many lives_ I love that it was based on a true story about a young girl and her first horse and her personal journey through the challenges that she had to overcome in life. The interactions between Moondance and those who became her best encouragers in her new adventures were wonderful and healthy. It was surprising to see the strength that Moondance had uncharacteristically, in spite of her relational rejections and as she grieved the loss of her Dad. Her Mom definitely seemed to speak life and encouragement to her in strengthening ways. Their shared moments of real emotions and tenderness were very moving_ Moondance's trainer, well he became very special in her life in a beautiful and healthy way, at a time when she needed someone like him the most. This movie is very wholesome, insightful, and filled with the promise of hope for many. It is a delightful horsey (& people) movie with a very Happy ending! (previously sent a handwritten note to CBD regarding this movie, but now here is one via the internet!)
My kids love this movie, and we have watched it several times. The girl is a testament to not worrying about what others think of you. No matter how discouraging things are for this girl she shows you how to push through them with a smile on your face.
