Publisher's Description

Something’s out there...

Reed Shelton organized this survival weekend. Hired the best guide in the region. Meticulously trained, studied, and packed while enouraging his wife, Beck, to do the same. But little did they know that surviving the elements would become the least of their worries. During thier first night of camping, an unearthly wail pierces the calm of the forest. Then someone--no, something--emerges from the dense woods and begins pursuing them. Everything that follows is a blur to Reed--except for the unforgettable image of a huge creature carrying his wife into the darkness. Dependant on the efforts of a small town and a band of friends, Reed knows they have little time to find Beck. Even more important, he soon realizes that they aren’t the only ones doing the hunting. Something much faster, more relentless--and definately not human--has begun to hunt them.

Frank Peretti is at the top of his game in this New York Times best-selling novel of "survival of the fittest." Nothing is as it first appears in this thriller where things that go bump in the night are only a heartbeat away.

This is a great book that is a thriller without being to graphic, and like allof Peretii's work is outstanding.

Not a Peretti normal genre, so it wasn't what I expected. (not spiritual warfare, but genetic manipulation) It was a good read, but I certainly do not need to re-read it as some books inspire me to do.

I absolutely love Frank Peretti, and I highly reccomend all of his books. I was surprised that this one really didn't deal with spiritual warfare, as most of his books do. The storyline is more like sci-fi. Still a good read though, he's a fabulous writer.

Monster is Frank Peretti at his story telling best. I think the title misleads people. It is not a story about a haunting, camp-fire tale but cleverly includes higher education and modern myths in its plots. Great read!

I wish Peretti would continue writing more books...can't get enough. This was an awesome book that I had actually bought to read for the second time. You won't be dissapointed.

I could hardly put this book down. As usual, Frank Peretti has your mind going while reading the story line.

I didn't know Frank Peretti was so into death and gore. this book had a lot of very disgusting parts and highly detailed scenes of bloody death that will make all but the strongest stomached readers ill. the only book he has written that is gorier than this is The Oath. Peretti's more recent books have gotten easier to read and it is interesting to see his view of genetic manipulation. but you have to admit that having Sasquatch in the story is overdoing it a bit. There is plenty of danger and excitement in the story but the gross parts will make you think twice about reading it. this book is most certainly not appropriate for children or younger/sensitive teens or adults. My advice, readers with strong stomachs only to read this book. What ever happened to the good old days when he wrote great books like the Cooper Kids? I think his stories are going downhill. they are getting grosser, darker, stranger, and don't focus on God nearly as much. Be careful reading this one.
