Moms' Night Out is a novelization of the hilarious family comedy that celebrates real family life—where everything can go wrong and still turn out all right.
If you have not seen the movie then you are doing yourself a disservice. Not only is the movie truly funny but it is also very real, which helps bring out the humor. Tricia Goyer has taken the screenplay written by Andrea Nasfell and Jon Erwin and transformed it into a novel which is no easy task. This is a story about three stressed out ladies who also happen to be mothers. All they want is a few hours away from the home so that they can go to dinner and enjoy each others company and friendship. After all it is just a few hours, they won't be very far away and they will have their cell phones. Ms. Goyer has enhanced the story, added scenes as well as brought real life to all the characters. "Mom's Night Out" is all about family and the things that family members do when there is need. You will wish this book never ends because you will fall in love with each character. Ms. Goyer has done it again. I liked this book a lot.

I don't think it mattered much anyway because I believe Author Tricia Goyer was hired to write the novelization of the movie so they are pretty much the same.
If you haven't seen the movie then you must do so! It is hysterical what these mom's go through on their one night to be away from their families.
Exhausted mom Allyson plans a mom's night out for herself and 2 other exhausted mom's. They are going to enjoy a nice quiet evening at a fancy restaurant without the demands of children sucking the energy out of them. What happens though is a roller coaster ride of one mishap after another! From a stolen van, a lost baby, a tattoo parlor and a trip to jail, these mom's have the night of their lives...just not the one they had planned! And the father's that stayed home with the children are having their share of excitement as well. Their mishaps are just as comical as the ladies.
My daughter has 3 children and she said while watching the movie she and her husband kept poking each other saying how much the feelings and antics portrayed in the movie resembled their household. In both the movie and the book Allyson receives some wise advice from an unlikely source. Rough biker dude Bones reminds her of her value in God's eyes when she sees herself as a failure. I thought it was one of the best parts of the movie..and the book.
So whether you read the book or see the movie I guarantee that if you are a mom you will be poking your neighbor with some scene that you can relate to. I enjoyed both the book and the movie as sometimes it helps me to remember things by reading and viewing.

In this novelization of the hilarious family comedy, everything can go wrong and yet still turn out all right. Allyson and her friends want a mom's night out - peaceful dinner and grown-up conversation. Their husbands can watch the kids for a few hours. They hadn't counted on the missing baby, the tattoo parlor, the motorcycle gang, the bewildered cabbie, the missing cars, and a visit to the police station.
This is a funny novel. It has laugh out loud crazy scenes. Goyer has done a great job putting the movie to print.

Who would have thought that after 37 years of marriage and raising 4 kids that this mom would have read Moms' Night Out?! I'd already read the devotional and absolutely loved it_so why not finish it off by reading the actual book? I'm so glad I did!!! This entertaining characterization of the modern Christian mom and family brings to light issues that many of us deal (or don't deal) with. When a group of moms try for a night away from the regular routine of the day to day responsibilities, all sorts of questions and seemingly insurmountable problems arise. Can he (Dad) handle this one babysitting night without the kids bringing down the house, all the while entertaining his best friend? Can Mom actually relax, thinking she's planned the perfect night out for herself and a couple of girlfriends? Does God really care how hard Mom is trying to fulfill all she believes she is meant to do? And could long-kept secrets being revealed actually be a good thing? I urge you to READ THIS BOOK! It's definitely a help for the modern mom. My only criticism is that there were a ton of grammatical errors. The author tended to changed tenses in the middle of sentences, which made reading the book a bit confusing. If changing tenses and misuse of pronouns bother you, maybe you should just check out the movie instead. Otherwise, buy this book!

247mama5 Stars Out Of 5The Real StrugglesMay 21, 2014247mamaY'all this book is hilarious. It is the wacky and really crazy tale of some moms trying to have a peaceful night away from the kids. They are a eclectic group of ladies- Allyson the stay at home mom that's at her wit's end, Izzy the one that just got life changing news, and Sondra the pastor's wife. These ladies are all so easy to relate to. Their thoughts and personal dilemmas make perfect sense. Throw in Bridgett a single mom, a cabbie, and a biker named Bones and the evening takes an interesting turn. Don't worry you also get the story of the dads as they wrangle the kids without the moms.
The book is fast paced and holds lots of laughs. Some of it is a little over the top but hey that's what fiction movies are all about! Moms Night Out has more than enough real mom reality in it. If you need a break from your own Mom reality I totally recommend this book.
