Modern Curriculum Press puts out some quality, easy to use curriculum and this phonics book is no exception. For years, I used their materials in a traditional classroom in partnership with Words Their Way. I've tried other programs, but this is a pretty great fit for most kids. It works primarily on letter sounds (in isolation) and identification of sight words in simple student books. Once again, I used it in tandum with Words Their Way (hands on) and MCP provided an excellent opportunity for my daughter to independently practice her learned skills. Well worth the $.

Excellent product at a very fair price. I have ordered from Christian Book in the past and will continue to do so.

We started out the school year using The Reading Lesson. It was a disaster. By Christmas, I put the book on the shelf with plans to give it away. My child hated it and cried every time I pulled it out.

She did not even enjoy the CD-rom that came with the book.

I purchased MCP Phonics ( both Level K and Level A) in January. We started book K and quickly skipped about 3/4 of the book because she already knew her constants and their sounds. Now we are working on short vowels and she is really enjoying this workbook. The pages are colorful and engaging. She is also starting to read. I can see her confidence getting stronger. We'll finish Level K and be able to start Level A before school is finished this summer.
