Since God is not divided on truth, could He not have presented His Word in a less divisive way? Modern Church: Where Tradition Trumps Truth addresses this mass doctrinal division and shows the fundamental reason for its existence. And in seeing the problem exposed, the reader who accepts the premise will begin building a firm doctrinal foundation needed for evaluating the biblical accuracy of any church, denomination, or idea."

Gregory Reed1 Stars Out Of 5April 16, 2010Gregory ReedThe Response to Randy Arendells book the Modern Church: where tradition trumps truthRandys book here is full of heresies. 2 Peter 2:1 says that But there arose also false prophets among the people, as also among you there will be false teachers, who will secretly bring in false heresies, even denying the Master who bought them. According to this verse heresy is a teaching that leads you away from the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. This is to hold a teaching that seduces people and lead them away from the Lord. Randys book holds many heresies that can possibly lead the Lords people astray. I would like to share some of the heresies he mentioned in his book:Heresy # 1: Randy states on page 44 in his book: The fact isJesus (in the gospels) never once mentioned the word grace! Randy also states For just as the Law was not given by Moses when he was born, or even for the next eighty years, neither was grace taught by Jesus during his years on earth. My response: Here Randy makes clear in his book that the Lord Jesus did not teach grace during his years on earth. Luke 2:52 tells us clearly And Jesus advanced in wisdom and 1stature and in the 2agrace manifested in Him before God and men. This verse tells that grace was expressed in and through the Lord Jesus before God and men. Here is the footnote in the Recovery Version Bible for this verse which reads; this grace was also expressed through the Lords human virtues: In grace before God because He was growing in the expression of God according to God's desire; in grace before men because He was growing in the divine attributes manifested in the human virtues, which were gracious to men. He was growing as a God-man before God and men.
Jack Ewing5 Stars Out Of 5July 4, 2009Jack EwingRandy is a friend, but I would not do this for that reason. I want people to know that reading his book and studying his view of scripture has made sense of many apparent contradictions and that has given me a renewed interest in studying the word of God.I can't recommend this book enough. May it be a blessing to you as it is to me.

Tell us a little about yourself. Randy Arendell became a Christian while attending college and has since served the Lord in numerous leadership, teaching, and other service capacities. His primary love and calling is teaching the Bible. Randy has a Masters of Business Administration from Northeast Louisiana University and currently works for AT&T. He and his wife Lisa live in north Louisiana where they homeschool three children.
What was your motivation behind this project? Over the years, I've paid attention to other Christians closely. My observation has been that most Christian LEADERS are very determined in their core doctrines and believe that their credentials demand that they be correct. Yet there are numerous denominations, each with highly respected and educated people. Interestingly, a pastor at one church might be versed in Greek, yet he firmly disagrees with a pastor at another church on a given doctrine, even though the other pastor is also versed in Greek. There are scholars, theologians, linguists, and historians in EVERY denomination, yet on many subjects they firmly disagree with one another. The result is doctrinal disunity and confusion in the overall church. Details are debated ad nauseum, but the foundation is largely overlooked. But how can one be sure a detail is right if he has never honestly considered the foundation? The unwavering positions of the educated have created an environment in todays church where people believe they cannot understand the Bible without help from someone who knows more than them. But is that what God wants? There must be a way for people to understand the Bible independent of a pastor, scholar, or theologian. The answer is in the foundation. Modern Church: Where Tradition Trumps Truth exposes the doctrinal error of todays church and, more importantly, the basis for the confusion that has produced an innumerable variety of churches and denominations. This book tackles complex doctrinal issues, but not by dealing exhaustively with their details. Debating the details while overlooking the big picture the foundation - has been the cause of a crumbling house where carefully formed patches of love and acceptance completely hide the cracks. The purpose of the book is to challenge the traditional line of Christian thinking by evaluating, tearing down, and rebuilding the foundation.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that this book will challenge people to consider what they've always learned in church. They may be right in their conclusions, but if they are only accepting the word of others, it does not really matter. I hope that people will see that the Bible doesn't have to be confusing. And they should be able to see very clearly why so many denominations exist and why they believe what they believe. This will help them to develop their own solid understanding of scripture. But most importanly, it is my hope that individuals develop a deeper relationship with God as they explore His Word on a deeper and more honest level. Whether they agree with me or not, I believe this book will help them if they honestly seek God's truth.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I have grown in my understanding of God's Word as I worked on this project. It has presented me with opportunities to interact with others concerning the book's material. I have been able to learn a lot about others and about what motivates both them and me. Working on the project has helped me to understand both me and God on a deeper level. I am still growing in my relationship with God and will be until the day I die, and working on this project has certainly been a fruitful part of that growth process for which I will always be grateful.
