I am not one to write a negative review, but in my 16 years of home schooling I have never been so troubled over a book promoted as a great resource for Christian home school. If you are a Christian and believe in teaching and promoting the six days of creation by the God of the Universe and the awesome fact that God made man in His own image and gave man dominion over all other creation, stay away from this book. Youll find on the very first page an evolutionary paragraph about the formation of land over millions of years. A little later in the book a child is corrected for calling a turtle dumb as follows, Yes, said the man-who-knew, turtles do seem foolish. But they have kept alive on this jumpy planet for a long, long time at least some one hundred seventy-five million years! As one of them might say, We turtles saw the great dinosaurs come and also go. And what are you, who call yourselves Humans? You havent yet learned the simple rule KILL ONLY FOR REAL NEED! Youre a new experiment. My childrens children will see how the experiment turns out- ten million years from now! ... This is the tone of the book. On this page is also fact box in the margin describing the evolutionary change in the turtle over the years. Yes, this book has opportunity for creative learning of school subjects, but I fear that the opportunity for kids to learn these topics is causing Christians to overlook the blatant anti Biblical messages it also teaches in this book. What a wealth of Biblical truths and Spiritual learning experiences we can have if we determine to use material that honors and promotes Him. What a loss of blessing when we use material that requires constant unteaching and explanation of the real truth.
