Whew! What a ride! Mrs Curtis Higgs really took me on a journey these last couple of days. If you've never read any of this author's books, well let me tell you one thing: with Lizzie you get quality. The research for both of these books is clearly WELL DONE, and the story is just fabulous! If you're having any doubts, because you're not to familiar with the Scottish history, I did a little research before reading, but even without it, I believe this story is written in an understandable way. I suggest starting with Hear Burns My Candle. There are parts of this story that did not really hold my interest, I confess, but truly I'm glad I did not give up on this book! I cannot say how much I LOVE the fact that God holds an important place in these characters lives! (Mostly towards the end) Elizabeth is such a likable character and the change in Marjory as the story ends... oh how LOVELY! (By the way, cannot BELIEVE it took her a year to publish both books! )
You know, I was warned, but I didn't really believe that Mine is the Night will steal some hours of sleep from me!
As soon as I finished the first, I grabbed the second and I LIKED IT waaaayy more than the first! (I read some parts over and over again). It's funny, Christ-Based, romantic, lovely and oh, add the rest!
Let me warn you again: do not pick up these novels if you're looking for an adventure that will truly captivate and engage you!!
