I recommmend The Message above all Bibles for the beginner and the unsaved, especially, who are seeking Truth because of all the Bibles in print, The Message uses adjusted words, yet still the same meaning, compared to The King James, for example, which is so hard to understand with it's outdated language for which many of us can't understand and can become frustrated with the old grammar, and give up pre-maturally. We don't want that to happen. When you read The Message everything becomes suddenly relevant and is easily revealed to todays modern times-Applicable. Because of The Message, I dededicated my life to Jesus along with others factors which drew me to Jesus:) It's all about The Gospel (matthew, Mark, Luke, and especially the book of John which is JESUS. Jesus did everything for us all we have to do is have enough faith to receive His free gift of Salvation according to the instructions in The Gospel Books (New Testament for beginners, please, is strongly suggested:) The only thing I do not like about this particular NIV/The Message combo is the print is so small. Personally I am need larger print to read and not miss a thing. I picked up The Message a year ago, roughly, and have hardly put it down. The Message which is The Word which is Jesus saved my life and yours too if you receive him from your heart according to the procedure(simple simple) in the Gospel. I strongly suggest the very first book you read front to back in one sitting is The book of John...it's called The Book of Love. It is living word and something about John effected me in a way unlike no other book. I longed for Jesus. I missed Jesus. Jesus is so alive in Heaven and just waiting for you to come to him from the heart confess your sins and choose to make Him the center of your life. He will, if you menat your prayer from the heart, Jesus will do exactly as His word says. Every word is a promise! Jesus will move into your heart and he accepts you right where you are no matter how bad a place. It's ok. He loves you. No sin thats said or done is unforgivable. Jesus wants to set you free and bring you to Heaven to live in the Kingdom in eternal peace with Him. If your heart is hardened, that's ok. Pray that Jesus soften your heart enough that you regain the ability to receive Him in Faith. He will do everything He can to save you, He already Has actually, you just have to receive through Faith. Believe He's The Son of God & that he died for our sins once and for all, nailed to the cross. and that God The Father rose Him from the dead 3 days later, confess you're a sinner and with your you, in complete Faith that He will redeem you if you are sincere, receive Him. Any amount of Faith is enough if you just access it in order that you are able to believe with all your heart this truth. Jesus loves you. Jesus forgives and forgets, will wash you snaow white clean.Jesus is THE ONLY WAY TO GET TO HEAVEN. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY! Good works will not get you in Heaven. It's all about receiving in Faith the gift and things Jesus already did for you to set you free-RECEIVE HIS GIFT:) And you will be born again and have Salvation. One must be born again to go to Heaven. Jesus did all the work for you!! Just receive Him and turn away from sin and love Him with all your heart and stay with The Message, His Bible, because it contains the instructions for how to navigate your life in this world we live in.
I just recently purchased this Bible because of the very cheap price and I have always wanted to own a Parallel Bible to help me with my study of God's word. I really like the Bible, but I wish I would have known how small the print was because whenever I get done reading it my eyes start to burn because the print is too small. If you have great eyesight this Bible is perfect for you!
This translation TNIV is a translation that undermines the integrity of the scriptures and their message. The Message would be better paralleled with a more literal translation. While the change is less than 2% and "gender-neutral," this compromise of 2% is actually more than "thousands" of changes to the actual text. Only liberal, cultural scholars accept this translation. Their acceptance and popularity is based on their worldly views rather than integrity of the text/scriptures. All readers should desire to know what the author said and meant in the context of that time. Liberal translations water down context of scripture and intent. This is Biblacal Hermeneutics (the science of Bible interpretation) 101. Beware and Yes I have this translation.
